Book Covers

This time, I have more Van Vogt to post. He had some great PB covers back in the 70's. My favourite is Rogue Ship.

Ok, final lot. Tiltangle is a great cover, shame the book sucked.

Good stuff. Hard to pick a favorite but UNDERCOVER ALIENS and DARKNESS ON DIAMONDIA really jump out. Any of these by Chris Foss? PLAGUE SHIP looks real.

Rogue Ship is done by Peter Jones
Chimera by Dave Roe

Unluckily that's all there was :(

PS:

Did some searching and;
Darkness on Diamondia done by Tim White
The Man with a Thousand names by Tim White
The Silkie by Bruce Pennington
The Universe Maker by Peter Elson
The Null-A novels maybe from Eddie Nelson
Undercover Aliens by Peter Jones
Plague Ship by Tony Roberts
Tiltangle by John Berkley

Chris Foss did these:

Mission to the Stars
Away and Beyond
Moonbeast
Earths Last Fortress
Planets For Sale
Slan
Voyage of the Space Beagle

This Blog has a lot of Chris Foss covers and art. Just do a keyword search for Foss.

Very impressive. What is the book's title?

El Borak and other Desert Adventures by Robert E Howard and.
Released Del Rey only a few days ago.

El Borak is the prototype for Indiana Jones and co. Written and set in 1930 Central Asia. Adventure stories of the days in the wild, barren places when a horse,a handgun,a rifle and a scimitar,a long knife was the way you fought.

My avatar is from one of the stories, illustrations in the book.

Hey....someone's changed his tune regarding Del Rey's use of illustrations.......;)

I've only now realised where your avatar came from, having purchased a copy of that book myself.

I remember studying Z for Zachariah in highschool at about age 15. I recall enjoying the book as a matter of fact. AH...the memories of youth...

I thought my avatar was a pic of El Borak but its "only" Kirby El Ghazi O'Donnell :p

Del Rey changed their illustration style. They didnt ruin the stories with too many pics, the illustrations was so dark, fit in the story better than all the other Del Rey books of REH i have.

Dask, I know that it's not really books, but i though that you'd find this interesting enough.

Oh, I collected comics before books and still collect. This is a great website, thanks for posting it. I've added it to my favorites. Spent some time all ready checking out the covers to early DC war comics most of which I've never seen since they came out when I was just a baby. Didn't see my first copy of OUR ARMY AT WAR until early 1961 and have never seen No.1 anywhere that I can remember. Fascinating stuff. Love it.
