New GRRM Update on ADWD

I'll take the second announcement on or around my impending birthday.

Alas, the target remains unscathed...

but everything around it is just sprouting arrows... mmmph.

I'm slightly concerned over the fact that GRRM considers this "big" news. Surely he wouldn't consider the announcement of ADWD as being nearly of the same magnitude!?

Makes me think the other big announcement will not be what we're hoping for...but with any luck I'm wrong.

I'm starting to feel like CHarlie Brown after Lucy has pulled the football away AGAIN for the 1,000th time.

Amen.

I don't in any way begrudge Martin the right to do whatever he wants with his time.

However, the announcements about future announcements that have nothing to do with the announcement I want announced are wearing me a bit thin.

Just to add to that, I hate being teased. I ahted it when it was girls back in high school, and hate don't like it coming from my favorite author. I'd rather he said nothing.

Agree wholeheartedly. Bit tired of him teasing now. It's certainly wearing thin. I'd prefer an honest update even if it's bad news and he says it won't be ready until next year. Better to be open with his fans rather than this continued teasing.

How about this....

1. A Game of Thrones August 1996
2. A Clash of Kings November 1998
3. A Storm of Swords August 2000
4. A Feast for Crows October 2005
5. A Dance with Dragons August 2011
6. The Winds of Winter September 2017
7. A Dream of Spring August 2023

So if my calculations are correct and George continues to publish at this rate by the time the series is finished he'll be 75 and we'll have to wait another 12 years to find out what happens in the end!

Will it be worth the wait? Lets hope so.

One question that's been puzzling me is why would HBO begin filming a series that currently has no clear ending and a story that is only approximately 70% complete? Or do they know something we don't?

Crooksy.

Was the other big announcement the air date of the TV series? I had a thought it was...

I haven't really been keeping up-to-date on the tv series announcements, but that's what I thought as well.

Amen.

LOL, this caused my brain to do a back flip! :D

I think it's better than even odds that the next big announcement not only has nothing to do with ADWD but that he's about to release a new limited edition director's cut version of Wildcards XIV.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some hawking pictures.

God i love those.

No, I don;t think the air date was 2 of the big ones.To tired to check tonight
Obviously "to" tired to spell or punctuate correctly as well :D

OK, he said "exciting announcements". This is the quote

oks like I will be coming out to LA in early January, to talk about the HBO show at the TCA....................................(Might have an exciting announcement that day as well. Maybe two. But don't quote me on that).

I'm not very good at reading GRRM's tea leaves, but, if the graphic novel was one of those, he was hoping ADWD would be another. Maybe. Who the heck knows.

To paraphrase Eric Cartman, "When GRRM says he has an exciting announcement to make, you may as well start punching........:

Any South Park fans know the quote, if you aren't fans, you should be :D

Imp, that one's a classic!

Eric Cartman's voice (little kid raspy, for those who don't know):

"When a chick says 'we need to talk', you may as well start punching yourself in the --" Well, I'm sure you know what I mean. (I almost forgot that this is a family friendly site.)

Still funny, though.:D

That line was one of the funniest things I've ever heard anywhere. It's something George Carlin could have said. The line is actually spoken within the first 30 seconds of this episode, which is well worth watching in it's entirety

The other announcement was definitely, 100%, ADWD. At the signing, GRRM said that he'd hoped to announce it was done, but he'd been out of commission from his illness and it would now follow 'soon'*.

* Note: George R.R. Martin's definition of 'soon' may not match that of his readers.
