New GRRM Update on ADWD

I imagine it would be pretty good King Kong fan fic. Of course everyone will be shocked when Kong dies five minutes after they get to the island...

There's this big wall that keeps undead monkeys from attacking the crew. But the big blonde monkey throws Kong's pet from the top of the wall... and the Old Silverback dies trying to catch a guinea pig. Then Ironmen grab the sacrificial girl from a bucket of leeches just before dragon-wolves sing a song about a bear.

and a maiden fair?

I think the last update pretty much makes it sure we're not getting ADWD at the same time as the HBO show airs.
Optimistic would be 2011 christmas i suppose...sigh.

This is missing a smiley or sarcasticon, hopefully?
Trust me. As the one on the receiving end of Wiggum's cheekiness, I can attest that he has his tongue firmly planted in his cheese-headed cheeks.

Cheeky?

Awesome.

I can check that of my "adjectives used to describe me" list.

Yeah, Imp, it was sarcasm. A hopefully humorous attempt to head off "thebookisntdonewhydoeshehavealifeanddootherthingswithhistime" comments.

Sorry to even question your post. I should have known better.

David Anthony Durham
BH, I just went back and reread GRRM's Update Page for ASOIAF... and at the end he recommends several authors, including Mr. Durham. Ursa Major posted a quote (by Martin?) praising Durham's work. I am now intrigued.... of course I get intrigued every fifteen minutes, but this time I'm serious.

By the way, does anyone else still check the Update Page daily? Or is it just me? It's my homepage for Pete's sake!!!!!! I need a fix... C'mon, Georgie, just one little hit. Please...

I think the next thing I'm supposed to say it... "Hello, my name is Boaz... and I'm an Iceandfireaholic. I've been clean for twenty minutes."

Methinks thou art also a fan of the RPG, my lord Culhw... Cuchwl... oh, Knight of the Unpronouncable Name.

Zounds! This discussion hath been continually divergent from it's origin.

I've got his Not A Blog added to my RSS feed, so I don't miss anything he posts. I think when ADWD release is finally announced though, the internet will literally erupt with outpourings of joy!

Erupt?

Yes, the effect will be easy to spot, but I think you're being a bit rash....

:rolleyes::eek::)

I'm about halfway through Durham's first Acacia book. It's "ok". Don't expect a lot of intrigue that you have to figure out for yourself like with ASOIAF. Durham pretty much tells you everything you need to know. You won't have to worry about wondering what someone else is thinking or scheming, either, since it seems just about everyone has a POV. It's not bad, but as has been mentioned a zillion times before, it's hard for any series to measure up once you've read ASOIAF.

Well if you're halfway through Durham will have quite a few surprises for you in the other half. :)
