You know you're obsessed when.....

If anyone can find a Targaryen name in the real world i'd like to see it. Also, I wonder how many babies might inherit strange westerosi names because of these books.

..when the stream of conscious thought going on in your head takes place in the voices characterized by Roy Dotrice. (Happen to you Imp? Snow?)

You ask your spouse if they would like to take a cruise to the Summer Isles for vacation.

You know you're obsessed when....you are asked to join a fantasy soccer competition and whilst picking your team name you flick through the appendices of the book looking for cool house mottos to use

You know you're obsessed when... you see someone's posted on this thread and you immediately think, "Ooooohhhh, there are other nerds that understand me!"

Absolutley! Roy really leaves a lasting impression on the listener.

I've already started a thread on this, but you know you're obsessed when you go out and buy your very own Longclaw replica

.....which was almost destroyed during a recent basement flood :(

Thinking about it, its kind of ironic that Longclaw was damaged by fire before being handed to Jon and alomost damaged by water after i got it. It just became that much more valuable to me. Talk about obsession! :D

I'm glad you saved Longclaw, Snow.

You think of Hadrian's Wall, and you recall walking on The Great Wall of China, and you think to yourself, "meh".

During meetings at work you speak in a voice so soft that others have to strain to hear it. So the room is strangely hushed.

In restaurants you wonder why the soup of the day is never Hot Weasle.

It snowed yesterday. It is thawing today. You tell you wife that the shed is "weeping".

A relative you have not seen for a while tells you your children have grown and you think yes, the Seed Is Strong.

I agree.

(And it's definitely a watershed moment in the development of the obsession....)

You wrote fanfiction involving Edryk Storm meeting blind girl in Braavos and saving her from being attacked by Tello and Orbello, but you burned it in your back yard because you realised it's not worthy of kissing toes of the original.

(Dont judge me! B-) Don't you dare judge me! *weeps and runs away* )

So I was on my way to work, listening to my radio the other day, and there was a man in the local news who was arrested for stabbing a guy. I swear to you, the radio announcer said that this man's last name is "Blackwalder". I actually jumped in surprise.

You know you're obsessed when...

...you go to a Mardi Gras themed party and see all the women wearing all those shiny necklaces of different colors and you think, "I did know the Citadel accepted women as acolytes."

...you see an old guy at the Mardi Gras party with thrity shiny necklaces and you think, "Grand Maester Pycelle!"

...you type up your own obsessive moments and try to pass them off as generic by starting your post with "So you know you're obsessed when..." instead of "The other day I was..."

...you haven't been paying FULL attention to the George Martin threads for about two days and you find yourself wondering, "What did I miss!?"

's okay though, some more casting from what I can tell and they've got plenty of that to do.

You know when someone is not obsessed when they admit to not paying Full attention to the George Martin threads for more than a few minutes of waking time.

No one here would admit to that. (Or would they?)

I resent that! Or possibly thank you :D

And we Faceless Men see everything. Or do we?

You know you're obsessed when you even look for GRRM's inspirations and thus the clues to the whole story while even browsing history...

On this day... On August 16, 1777, American forces under the command of John Stark decisively defeated British forces at The Battle of Bennington... in Bennington, Vermont... the town where Bennington College is located... the alma mater of Peter Dinklage... who is playing Tyrion for HBO.

I'll be logging off now to go get a life.

I just ordered a necklace made from dragonglass, um, I mean obsidian. (Well, you never know when you might meet Others)
