Some of your favorite stories in the Writing Challenge -- NOT for voting.

We could start a Suicide Club for those of us who were inspired to write about that idea, and a Hellfire Club for those of you who chose to write about that.

"Even though there were a variety of activities, including quoits and karaoke, the gay boat cruise club was a lonely affair."

So, I'm supposed to take myself seriously? Seventy five words; I can't do a welcoming thread in that.

On a cheerier note, I notice that we now appear to have forty-one stories, only one less than last month.
And, just to prove it's me, 'fewer', not 'less'

But it is impressive, indeed. I have, as yet, no idea for whom I shall be voting, and I've only managed to totally eliminate three or four.

I can eliminate the ones I don't understand. And as I only understand two on page three... Well, I don't have many left to pick! But there's two I really like so far.

And just to prove it's me, chris, I will note that we are allowed to be idiomatic in our casual remarks here.

I never thought we would come close to the number of entries we had last month -- especially as there are fewer days in which to submit our stories this time -- but we need only two more to crash right through our previous record! The suspense is building ...

I must say, I rather liked Seph's entry this month, but I'll wait until the deadline for posting has passed before drawing up my long- and short-lists.

(So don't get your hopes up too high, Seph. :))

It's really odd: last month my three top picks were either quirky or horror (neither being my kind of thing, really), and now I've mentioned that a poem, for goodness sake, may be a contender.

* Feels dirty. * ;):)

Not only that, TE, I think we have at least matched, if not exceeded, last month's number of entries.....

And yet another difficult decision to decide which to vote for. I ultimately missed out on last month's initial vote because I never saw the thread for it, but I did vote in the tiebreaker poll. (That vote ultimately lost, but it was very close, and both entries that wound up at that point were indeed worthy of praise and each vote they received.)

That being said, TE, just how long do we have to mull over our decisions this time?

In our time zone, Karn, in California and Oregon, we have from 5:00 pm on the 23rd to 4:59 on the 31st to cast our votes. Others will need to check their own times in relation to Greenwich Mean Time.

Had to chuckle at 'A fairy Tale Ending' by Mouse - must have missed it first time through?

I had expected him to take up the 'cat and mouse' tale from last month.

Maybe with
'Mighty Mouse'

Showing my age now. :)

Devil's Advocate 'The Unveiling' also amused.

Do we get any extra "comforts" for 1500 posts?

If we ever get a revenge theme, maybe it'll be time for the cat and mouse story then. ;)

I'd expect at least one story where the smaller animal is saved by mouse-to-mouse resuscitation.

(Well, perhaps not; not after this post, anyway. ;):) )

Ursa,

I thought you were calling a moratorium on puns?!!

Wasn't it supposed to last a month or was that a mouse?

Given how close we are to the end of the challenge, I'll be reading through this month's entries again today in order to narrow down my shortlist. I've been mentally adding favourites to the list as they come in, so with any luck I'll be able to pick just one before the poll is posted!

There really are some excellent entries again this month.
