Discussing the Writing Challenges -- November and December 2010

Just been having a think (don't worry, it's only bi-monthly) and wondered if it's not worth having some kind of overarching locked thread (this has probably been mentioned before). You know, to list winners and months' themes and stuff. I'm thinking it'll be particularly useful for the themes, 'cos I know when I was wracking my brains for one in October, I went through all of the previous threads to make sure I wouldn't be stepping on already used ones.

Cul,

A week early? I guess we must have found that time portal!:p:D

Going back to Hoopy's comments about an overarching thread - I think that'd be a nice idea.

In fact, I thought recently we could have an "end of the year" review of the monthly winners and maybe vote for our favourite. Just a thought.

I didn't say it at the time of voting but Harebrain's was my favourite last month! Mag the Mighty was a close second.

Yikes, I'm so behind the times!

Apologies to all the non-classicists, but you're stuck with Ovid once again. If anyone needs a pointer to the correct myth, just yell. However, I've decided to dispense with subtlety in my puzzles, so it should be fairly self-evident.

Arrggh... I tried to make a pun here about the ending, and then checked and found I'd got the wrong singers!

Even I got this one Judge. I think that the best Midas pun I know is Ian Fleming's James Bond book. "The Man with the Golden Gun." The illusion definitely is definitely baseball batish. -- (To add to the bad puns.)

There's no need to feel guilty about being obvious, TJ.

*cough*

* Wonders: Was the daughter called Lily? *

Well, it made me larf. All serious-like it was... then bam! Ha!Ha! Liked it.
What song pun are you on about ?

eek. It wasn't meant to be funny!! (Still, if it gets me votes...)

As for the pun, for some reason I'd got it into my head the song was by Simon and Garfunkel, so I was playing around with being Art-ful. Doesn't work with the Tremeloes. :(

Sounds like it was a song by a different crew altogether, then.

(But at least it would have been a post-Poole pun, I suppose. ;) )

Re: November writing challenge -- 75 words -- READ FIRST POST

Did I say funny? Sorry, meant clever. :) Sagacious, yet witty

I've moved your post, above, from the Writing Challenge to this thread, J Riff, as I pretty sure this is where you meant to post it.
