Karn, congratulations. I thought your story had the makings of a winner from the first moment I read it. Clever and well done.

Now just don't dump any cinnamon donuts on me in the Club!:p

Congratulations Karn! It made me laugh when I first read it, and I still smirk now. I did not vote for it, but it came really close!

You've also received at least one vote this month, because I voted for your story.

Wow! THanks Teresa, I did not expect that at all. :D

Re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- September and October

Congratulations, Karn! Looking forward to the theme. (If it's demons, I'm done for...)

This month's figures for those who are all agog:

We had 9 new entrants (hello newbies!), so that makes a total of 110 entrants over the 8 months with a total of 370 entries. We lost, or temporarily mislaid anyway, another 3 usual contributors in November, so only 18 of us have now entered every month, with another 8 having missed just the one Challenge. On the plus side, 4 of those who joined us for the first time in October have stayed with us, which is what we like to see.

HareBrain is still in the lead with 27 votes overall, Mouse scurrying behind on 23, but Hoopy has vaulted into third place with 21 and Teresa is advancing strongly with 18. Karn and HJ have joined the league of 10-or-more-votes, which now numbers 14 people. Total votes over the 8 Challenges is 350. We had a very poor month voting wise -- only 41 votes for the 49 entries, the worst discrepancy ever. More voters needed, people. Or perhaps...

So, the questions for next month... Can Hoopy o'er-leap the Mouse into second place? Can she take both the furry critters in her stride? Can Teresa continue the advance? Will someone else appear from nowhere? All this and more in a few weeks from now.

I love The Judge's statistical breakdowns! Maybe you should start a thread for running commentary as it happens? I'd tune in.

Many congratulations Karn.

(and thanks to the other people who voted for me - it was more than I could possibly have expected)

Well done Karn and I'm with Teresa put your self down one more time and we shall use you as a ping pong ball:p

Although am I the only one who is waiting for this month's challenge with a feeling of terror:eek:

Congratulations to Karn for his hard-fought victory. I'm glad that we finally have a reason to silence him the next time he attempts to proclaim inferiority.

Thanks to TJ and SF for the mentions - I was beginning to wonder if I had written too figuratively for it to strike anyone's fancy.

I'm back. And I did manage to vote, while waiting for the taxi to drag me away, although I will admit the last three entries didn't get as detailed an analysis as I like to give.

Oh, and the second verse that wouldn't fit:-

“Not by us were your cows mutilated,
There’s BEMs out to get you; it’s fated.
In cosmos precarious,
With dangers so various,
‘Tis best to be confederated.”

I love The Judge's statistical breakdowns! Maybe you should start a thread for running commentary as it happens? I'd tune in.

.... and "For Love or Money" is coming up on the rails, followed by "Life's a Dream", "Dirty Spring" and "Gone Home to Mother". Ten yards out and it looks like it's gonna be a photo challenge for second place...

And at the line it's...

Firstly - congrats Karn!

Secondly, thanks for the various mentions this month.

Thirdly, also appreciating the statistical breakdowns from TJ. Another fan waiting to tune in...
