Nanowrimo

Three days down, two chapters done, word count: 9,324.
Chapters? People are doing chapters!? Ah crap, I forgot about those! Mine's pretty much a jumbled stream-of-consciousness, with stories within stories within stories as I try to explain these random things that my brain spews out.

And Cul, two words: homicidal monkey.

Well, I didn't make it today, only 700 and some words added. But I have a slow day at work tomorrow, so I can probably catch up. I just can't keep my eyes open anymore. 4528 done so far.

Hmmm.

I tell you, if this task was to write 1667 words towards thirty different projects over the course of a month, I'd so nail it.

So do that, Cul. No one gets to tell what kind of novel to write, and nowhere in the "rules" does it say your novel has to follow and traditional type of guidelines. Last year i had about a thousand words of why can't I seem to write today? I really wish an idea would come to me. How in the world am i supposed to finish this things when all I can do is blabber?

ahaha. On about 3,500, not out of the first chapter yet! Are we meant to be updating this on the nano website?

You can do, you can either put the word count in the little box in the top right, or copy and paste your story in their word verifier thing. (Which is what I do, as for some reason it tells me I have one more word than MS word does!)

I've just had a spurt as I know I'm going to have at least four days where I won't get anything written at all!

And um... chapters?! I also forgot all about those!

Ah, well I have a bit of a confession on that score. I have a rather scary nine pages of notes for this novel, with chapter outlines, scenes, etc.

I am the uber-planner. Hear me roar.:p

5681 now, still 1k behind schedule but the weekend is coming up. There's still hope!

I actually came to these forums from NaNo, since I'm in desperate need of some sciencey help with a plot device. Also your forums aren't crashing around midnight all this month!

I wrote 2.5K yesterday which means I'm back on target. 8338 at the end of day 5. It's such a slim margin.

Well, I'm dead in the water. I only have 2059 words written. I was hoping I might just take a day off or something and then be fine. But my motivation seems to be non-existent. I don't know what is wrong with me this year. I can't stay focused on the page for very long. I'm wondering if I made a mistake doing High Fantasy again. Maybe I needed to do something different like Urban Fantasy or Sci-Fi. Or maybe I just needed extreme planning this time and my current method isn't working.

I don't think I'll be finishing this year. But maybe I'll start planning another book and see how that goes.

I've never done this. Never written much of anything except the standard "young man escapes on a journey to find his real family" (involving magic) sort of thing.

I found out about this around eight hours ago. Achieving 50k words while working full time and creating several costumes and having to do shows should be interesting. I think it will be a fine challenge :)

I'm "cheating" in that I'm not writing (what I call) normal writing. it's more like writing a big ol' paraphrasing of the story. In this form, I would find it un-readable. I have trouble getting story lines out. *shrugs* it can't hurt to practice.

I'm at around 1k right now >.<

I caught up into yesterday's words yesterday (7444), so I'm still maintaining just below quota -- the NaNo stats page says I should finish on December 4th at this rate. :) I think I can get ahead this weekend and be back on track. By the time I finish today's words, I'll be ahead of where I finished last year, so I'm getting excited.

NaNo was going really badly on Thursday and Friday - fell asleep over the keyboard both nights, having written very little, so that I woke up this morning (Saturday) a full day and a half behind.

But I've done something today that I've never done before, ever. I've written over 4,000 words in one day, and caught up!!

That's not to say I'm great - cos I'm not. But it is to say that you shouldn't give up. I nearly did, this morning, because I thought I'd blown it for this year. 18 hours later, I'm back on track.

So if anyone here is feeling down because they're behind the curve, don't! You can do it!

And I'll see you on the other side...

Amen to that. That's great going, Patrick. I didn't quite manage 4k today, but I gave it a nasty scare and finished up with 3800, so I'm more than happy. I'm also starting to worry a little that I don't quite have enough novel left to make it all the way to 50k. I did a little (probably very inaccurate) math, and I've a feeling I may hit my "The End" moment at around 45k. Not that I'll actually be disappointed with that, of course, but it'd be nice to just get that extra few k.

Nothing for it. I'll just have to write an epilogue...:p:D

When I look at 4437 words written down it looks such a lot but the count is terrible.

I thought I would get more done if I joined in my Regions Day At The Secret Garden, forgot to take my mouse and I hate using the touch pad! My hand written notes, even I had trouble deciphering them.
So much procrastination - go and get a coffee, a quick chat with the other members, then my battery started to go flat. Had forgotten to change battery settings!

Still despite all these set backs I intend to keep going even if I don't reach the required word count by the end of the month. I'm hoping it will keep my thoughts from straying.

Well done to all who are doing this project, good or not so good word counts alike. :)

Was at the BristolCon yesterday so didn't get anything done! Hopefully I got enough done the day before that I'm not behind!

Whew! I'm still managing to maintain pace at only one day behind, with 13364 at the moment. Can't catch Mouse yet!

On the other hand, I just started a new church, so that's something. :D
