Hello All! Been absent for a while - weekends away, visitors and work issues have been keeping me too busy to even look at a computer for too long.

I've also been suffering from 'the curse'. All of my tentative ideas have amounted to nothing. As I believe HareBrain said (but am too lazy to trawl through and check!) you'd think I'd pick a theme that I had a half-decent idea for.

Anyway, something is finally brewing, so hope to post in the next day or so, once I've tweaked a bit.

Yeah, just the last few slackers to come now :p

And, noted Sloweye - noted ;):p !!

I can see it all SF. The tea pot the old bag waiting for the trial by water: the growing tension as the kettle boils. Finally the horrendous conclusion as the spoon performs the culminating act of swirling: round and round and round.

The concluding scene of satisfied party members sipping away will give it topicality.

And if, by some chance, a saucer went flying, it would suit SF down to a t....

I hope you're not saying what I think you're saying . . . .:p

And Ursa!:D:D

Oh no! Why's SF have to be so good?! I'm so not posting mine directly after that! :D

Reading through it, I expected it to be about a harrassed mother turning her Land Rover around from the trip to the cinema.
Nope, a somewhat larger scale. (and onto the shortlist, and probably the short-shortlist)

SF reminds me of a commercial: "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature."

Good one! SF

Aaaaargh! Remember: Read the stories before you read the discussion, read the stories before you read the discussion...

Thanks to reading, but not properly absorbing, Alchemist's post, I genuinely thought it was about a harrassed mother in a Land Rover. It came as quite a shock to find she had such power! I'll make sure I stay off the road during the school run from now on.

Umm - in my head it made perfect sense, but rereading it, I can see what you mean. And thanks!!! :D

Thank you - but yours are always great and I've not read one that I haven't liked!

gulps** Read SF's entry and it hits to close to reality.... brilliant.

Thank you!!!

Again - Thank you!!!!

Hope it wasn't too confusing . . . .?

If I didn't have kids, I'd avoid the school run too!

Not confusing as such, SF, more due to the comments posted I knew guessed what the conclusion of the story was going to be almost from the outset.

It made me wonder whether I would have worked it out without any hints, and detracted from my enjoyment of it.

That being said it does not change the fact that it was an excellent well written story, that was enjoyable and thought-provoking.

Sigh, another one on my short list.

Well with Mouse and me yet to submit a story, it looks like we'll definitely hit the big five-oh this month. I should probably know this, as one of the organisers, but what's our high for entrants?

and I don't entirely trust my ability to pick a winner from so many excellent entries...

Just read through them again now and the quality certainly hasn't let up, noteable mentions go to Mosaix, Mirinda and StormFeather. Have to admit, the use of Gaia and the twist of the theme puts StormFeather's at the top of my list so far; it's going to be a tough one to beat!

And 52 is actually within sight, since we've now reached 50 (excellent story, J-WO), with stories by Mouse and Culhwch still expected.

I haven't really looked at a roster of the usual suspects to see if there are any others we should be elbowing and waggling our eyebrows at.
