Thank you very much (one of my favourite novels). Yes, that was sort of the area I was thinking of when I wrote it.

Even when I think I'm right about interpreting a story I'm proven wrong again.. My first thought was of a similar scene in Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange.

I haven't even begun to put together a shortlist this month, and frankly I'm not relishing the task!

Bearing straight ahead, actually (which suggests that Alaska must be on my left as I'm bound to be heading south...).

;):)

Isnt there a documentary about you based on the bearing sea and featuring crabby stories.

I think it's called Deadliest Ursa and the theme tune is, "Oh I do Like to be beside the seaside..."

Coulb be wrong Mr Bear.

Hi all,

I'm new here, but an idea on this theme struck me last night so I thought I'd offer it up.

Feel a bit humbled next so many great stories though!

He's the third name on my list. :)

On top of TE and TJ. :)
I am just waiting for Mouse and her mucky mind to find that comment...

And I hope you remember it's ladies before gentlemen, Karn.

Hello, Sleepy. Good to see you joining in -- very lyrical. The standard is always very high -- just wait until you have to start making shortlists and deciding on a winner!

Why? For what offence have you been convicted, Karn?

(Which bit needs sorting -- Mouse reading something mucky into Ursa being on top of me and Teresa? Or me suggesting that when it comes to putting us in order, Ursa, as a gentleman, should bring up the rear?)

It will stop.*

Bringing this thread back on topic: I found your story vivid and evocative, Dormouse. Reading it, I could picture the scene with great clarity.

*Even though encouraged by Judicial misconduct.

Perhaps it is just as well that Arthur Schnitzler isn't around, given that one of his more famous works might, if severely précised, fit this month's challenge theme.

I'm almost surprised that no-one has used that idea as the basis of story.
