Well done Mosaix ! And an excellent choice of theme

I've used one of the poems I put up on the poetry thread - with a little trimming and a few modifications. Hope this is ok , as it seemed to fit the theme quite well - and I wasn't quite satisfied with it first time around.

I find poetry quite dificult most times , but this one flowed relatively easily..as though it was waiting in my mind to be put to paper (or in this case to screen).

Thank You Nixie! That really means alot to me. Since I've posted early all three times I've entered, I always spend the rest of the month beating myself up. The amazing stories that come in always do a number on my confidence.

I like Stormfeathers idea and Talysia's too.

What is it you have against snow white Mouse! lol

Mine probably seems quite childish compared to the many good submissions so far.. but it made my husband laugh and he even suggested using a custard cream instead of a chocolate bourbon. :) Maybe a rich tea biscuit would be even more boring..

Mouse, seriously, What did Snow ever do to you?

More seriously, are you thinking about making a full length story out of the retelling of Snow White? I'll bet you could find an audience for it. Or is Snow White trademarked or something?

Not Snow White herself, or elements of the story that are not original to the Disney movie, Parson, but I'm sure that all of the names of the dwarfs are trademarked by now, since there has been a ton of merchandise over the years. And scenes like the animals licking the plates would be protected by copyright.

On the other hand, Mouse is writing satire, which has certain protections, so who knows?

She needs to consult an attorney. Now where would she find one of those ...

And speaking of which, why hasn't TJ or chris stopped by with the numbers now that we've completed another month? How many new entrants this time? How many people in all have taken part over the last eleven months? Who has posted a story each time? Surely I am not the only one waiting to learn these things and any other numbers they can share with us?

(I wonder if they have rules against badgering the witnesses in the UK?)

Thank you mouse, although I'm still wondering what Snow White did to annoy you:p

Maybe Mouse is really her jealous stepmother. ;)

What is it you have against snow white Mouse! lol

I have nothing against the woman, honest! :D

We should start a new thread: Snow White's Revenge -- Building a Better Mousetrap

Evil!

Mouse, seriously, What did Snow ever do to you?

There are lots of re-tellings of the Snow White story around, I think there's even a whole anthology full of them somewhere. I love Neil Gaiman's version Snow, Glass, Apples.

But hey, I've written a 225 word Snow White trilogy now! :D

I'm writing satire? That sounds good. Makes me sound clever!

...or it makes it sound as if you're so angry, you've have to sit down. ;):)

Thats mine up, 8 hours to do 75 words.

At this rate I'll be 95 when I get my book ready!!

Roll on April:eek:

An analysis? I can give you the chart, if you so desire. And say that in total more than 140 unsuspecting Chronites have been drawn into this scheme as it approaches its first Chroniversary. Or that Boneman, Chel, chrispenycate, Culhwch, HareBrain, Karn Maeshalanadae, Moonbat, mosaix, Mouse, Parson, Precise Calibre, reiver33, Talysia, Teresa Edgerton, The Judge, TheDustyZebra and Ursa major have all sumbmitted entries for each challenge.

There seem to be seven virgin entries in February (though I could have missed one) one of whom has already sumbitted for March (Hm, submission, strange word to use, carries elements of surrender.)

And my first idea didn't want to drop below a couple of hundred words; I think I need another. But no panic, yet.

With you I'm surprised you're not writing satyr.

Sorry for the default -- real life intervened. Chris has given the chart and some figures, but just to confirm/repeat:

Another good month in February with 52 entries, and I make the new entrants as totalling 9**. The total number of Challengers has now reached 142, who have written a total of 522 stories!

** Hello to AdamCollings; crys; evelinn; goldenapples; Gwynnever; Heck Tate; kopiteste; Phyrebrat and some newbie named pyan :p

The figure for the regulars remains unchanged at 18 who have completed all 11 Challenges -- TEiN needs to be added to Chris's list before he starts throwing more blame at me... -- and 4 who have completed 10 (digs, HoopyFrood, J Riff, Stormfeather). Of last month's 17 newbies, we only managed to keep 7 (Brev, cornelius, fitzchivalry, GreenKidx, mirinda, RoninJedi84 and Wannabewriter -- thanks for staying, guys!) -- but disappointingly the 4 we retained for a second month in January were lost to us in Feb.

The number of votes was lower than the number of entrants again, at 48.

And the news is we have an upset in the leader board! HareBrain has increased his lead against Hoopy by a whisker and is now on 33 to her 31, but Teresa has performed a Goblin leap to take third place from Mouse with 30, with the mini-rodent on 28. Stormfeather is still at fifth, now with 24 but mosaix is forging ahead and snapping at her heels (and being made to mix metaphors...) with 23, and Chris p is now in equal eighth place with digs on 19.

The questions for this month -- can we break the 150 barrier of total entrants? Can Teresa continue her royal progress to take the title or will the Hare manage to keep his whiskers ahead? Or is there a dark horse waiting in the wings for the last race of the year? *wonders if she should be starting a book and taking people's money at this point*

That is because I have no entry for The End is Nigh for the month of June.

But yes, I'm sorry about missing a couple of new entries; I'm not functioning too well right now.

In the meantime, you could always imagine doing so through rôle-playing.

(Be careful, though: don't pretend to be a Swiss roll as that would probably be taken as a roule infringement....)

But satyrs are so ugly!

I'm uh... working my way backwards now, see. It's my plan. I planned it.

They go out in the midday sun? No wait... that's mad dogs and Englishmen.
