Ah Drat you mean I could of been more abstract! Dang it That means I made more than one mistake.

Oh well in the words of a wise old retired Machinist who ran the tool crib during my brief stint as a student in the Tool and Die courses. . .

"If you ain't <Explicative Deleted> up you ain't learning nothing!" I miss that guy. Crusty old fella had a stroke and passed away in a hospice not to long ago.

Is there a discussion of what the stories mean after the vote?
When it comes to discussion, that's fine at any time -- but we'd prefer it if entrants didn't try to explain their own work until after voting. It can be a fine line, I know, but one of the great challenges of the... er... Challenge is to be able to tell a story from beginning to end and have it make sense despite the word limit. If one could put down a very poetic but cryptic tale which no one understood, and then immediately came here and explained the story behind it in another 100+ words, that might be seen as getting an unfair advantage.

So discuss away, but perhaps don't delve too deeply into meanings at this point.

I hope she knows that next episode, Kirk is just going to have a new love interest....

Ahem! Kirk certainly wasn't into pair bonding for life.:D I had someone rather more in love with a woman than with "Space, the final frontier..." for my male lead.

One of my all time favorite not quotes from star trek goes "beam me up Scotty there's no intelligent life here." It was often seen on bumper stickers a couple of decades ago.

Nice story TEiN, I had a tear in my eye wondering whether if they'd be together eventually.

I'm turning into a big softy my son says; I even cry at Deal or No Deal!

Thanks Gary.

Crying at Deal or no Deal is permitted. Especially if you end up with the 1p

Boy, I got into this one pretty late. It's an interesting batch of stories this month. Gotta say I'm not terribly happy with mine, but it was the best of the batch I came up with, so I ran with it. Voting's going to be tough this time. So far, my short-list isn't exactly short...

It's not that bad, Ronin. :)

There's been some very nice entries this year. I don't have any favorites picked out yet, but I'm sure I will soon enough. Perhaps I should have waited a while longer on mine, though-my first-minute entries are always so rough around the entireties.

It is quite a lovely batch of stories indeed. Though it would seem that a majority of us find death quite romantic. Hahaha... glad its not just me ;) Nothing like a nice moonlit stroll through a graveyard to really impress someone on a first date.

I actually don't think it's so much that most of us find death romantic, it's just that the "paranormal" part of the genre tends to throw most people off, I think. And I certainly don't find death or undead romantic at all-I just took the easy way out. I didn't put much of an effort into this month, I'm afraid....I shamed myself with the 300 word challenge. :p

But I do have to admit that despite how little time I put into the 75 this month, and despite the fact that I highly doubt I'll get votes this month for it, I AM quite fond of my entry and with just a little more expansion I could have really had something nice going. :) But alas, the moment for such a thing has slipped, at least for now.

And somebody dying for someone is very romantical, I reckon!

I've not read all the entries yet, but I'm liking Moonbat's very much.

Goodness, 39 stories down and it's still only the 10th! It looks like everyone has rushed to get the 75 words out of the way in order to concentrate on the 300-worder. I keep telling myself I've got plenty of time for both...

I was just thinking how heartening it was to see so many stories, despite the fact that so many had reservations about the theme (solution: kill off the lovers), and the distraction of the new challenge.

Your view of the matter is somewhat dampening.

Now, now, TE, don't be thinking it was dampening. Just think of it as an opportunity to get a jump on what your favorites thus far are, so you have extra time to whittle down a list of potential winners. :)
