Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

I'm trying but think my original idea was to ambitious. Was going for 2 stories in 1, couldn't get to under 3000 never mind 300. Ditched 1 story now I only have 585 words to lose.

You can do it! I believe in you! Another cliche of encouragement!

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

It kind of feels like I took at the easy way by making it into a poem. 300 words is short for a story, but long for a poem.

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

That ladies and gentlemen was hard work. After the 75 challenge I thought an extra 225 words should make telling a story easy. Nope its lot more difficult. My entry isn't saying what I want, still I've tried.

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

And a very good story it is, too, nixie! I like it. And it shows no signs of having been condensed from nearly 1,000, so well done.

Ursa -- do we get to see the title in advance? We could offer suggestions for the story!

I think I'll pass on your generous offer. If a miracle occurs and I do think of a story, a more appropriate title may suggest itself**.

** - After all, who or what else is going to suggest one...?

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

So, I have entered my original (back up) story. Couldn't think up anything else and I really wanted to participate in this challenge from the start...

By the by, The Judge, that was beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Thank you, GreenKidx! I'm glad you didn't forget to post. A very different take on the clock theme.

And thank you for the pillow, Chaoticheart. No brain damage yet. I don't think. But then, how wood I no?

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Hmm. Nine words before the 300 mark, one final line...and I have no idea what it will be.

I need to mull this one over.

If I end up not entering at all, it's because it never came to me and will haunt me to my dying day, the unfinished story...

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Well, after the first week's entries, I'd virtually decided I wouldn't enter, because I knew I couldn't come anywhere near the standard set. I'm still not sure I have, and I'm so glad I hadn't read the last page of entries, or I'd have probably not bothered. The standard is soooo high, some brilliant stories - we are having three votes aren't we??? Three hundred words - three votes. It goes together like cheese and biscuits, Good Friday and Easter Sunday (three days later!) Fed Astaire and Ginger Rogers and so many more.

My own entry is set around a tragic event in the world, and I do hope it isn't viewed as insensitive. I do apologise if I have upset anyone in using the event for a fictional story.

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

BONEMAN, I am so glad you decided to enter. That is fantastic! It doesn't have an insensitive feel to me and it reads very well, be proud of that one buddy.

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

*Reads Boneman's Entry, sniffles and wipes eye. * What? No, of course I wasn't crying. I'm a grown man! Its ... um... my... allergies! Yea, my allergies are bothering me!

Re: DISCUSSION, 300 Word Challenge, April

Thank you both!:)

I've said on other threads that I have a real love of time-travel stories and this once came to me as I was walking back from Sainsbury's...

Just read the entry in question. Wow. Boneman, that was brilliant, easily one of the top entries in the comp.
