GOT- Things I'm Looking Forward to SPOILERS

Conor, yeah I hope Rhaegar shows up in Season 2, since I really don't see him appearing this season unfortunately. There's also that scene in Clash of Kings where Dany has the dream/hallucinogenic trip experience in the Houses of the Undying. She sees Rhaegar there, but they may not show that on TV because, if Rhaegar hasn't already been introduced, the audience wouldn't have a clue who he was.

Seeing Robert & Rhaegar battling at the Trident would be effing awesome!
Technically Dany doesn't know what he looks like either. I assume they could easily tell the audience via some basic exposition. Like Dany seeing the image and going "...who is that...Rhaegar?" or something to that effect. Plus there's a certain family resemblance most Targs have that would make it a bit more clear as well.

We may get our wish of seeing Robert wield the warhammer with episode 3's scene with Robert, Barristan and Jaime. Awesome stuff!

I thought that was Barristan at first then something was said to make me think it was Jaimes father..I did notice he had on a white cloak of the kingsguard. So I must have misunderstood.
Good scene.

I want to see the scene where Ned dreams of his fight with Ser Arthur Dayne, Ser Gerold Hightower and Ser Oswell Whent at the Tower of Joy. I always found that scene so evocative.

Good point Lofwyr, I'd forgotten that Dany never actually knew her brother! :)

The Targs do look different from everyone else, so viewers could probably figure out that he was a relative, but to be honest right now, I doubt most TV viewers who haven't read the books have barely picked up on who Rhaegar is. Of course, that may change as the series moves on.

I've just finished watching Episode 3 and I liked the bit at the end where Arya is 'dancing' with Syrio while Ned is watching, then he zones out a bit and you can hear real swords clashing together. I almost expected to hear a female voice whisper "Promise me, Ned" and was kinda disappointed when it didn't happen. :D

I cant wait to see how they show Melisandre, she's so evil and awesome.
Also the whole growing friendship between Brienne of Tarth and Jamie, the goat... AHH it's all going to be so good, the first three episodes have been brilliant, and I just really hope they stick to to books as much as possible!

Yeah I wonder if they'll actually cast an ugly, mannish woman as Brienne, or if she'll be "Hollywood-ified". I've seen some theorizing on who could be cast as Brienne (fan theories, not anything official) and every potential actress was reasonably attractive. I want to see a manly Brienne (tho it would be a bit hard on the actress cast).

Looks like you beat me to the punch!
Brienne was one of my favorite charachters, I think the most noble even to the point of being naieve. I think she is the main reason Jaime does a bit of a turnaround especially in the Feast of Crows. I loved it in Feast of Crows where Brienne kills a few scum dogs from the Brotherhood.
I really hope Martin has taken care of the cliffhanger from Feast Crows.

Mesanna, you are right about the casting she needs to be shall I say unattractive. They were calling her Horseface in the books. I think the casting has been mostly spot on so far so I trust the same people to cast her right.

I really liked her character because, much like the Imp, she's got so much going on inside her head that people disregard in lue of her unconventional appearance.
And she's really kind :) Ultimate goodie!

I really hope they don't try and girlie her up though, it would ruin the beauty of her role - but like you said, so far the casting has been impeccable!

I'm also looking forward to seeing Sam, but I guess that'll come next episode :D

Conor

I think you're thinking of what Arya had as a nickname- horseface. Brienne is just one of the Lee sisters (Ugly, Beastly and Homely) :)

Tower of Joy would be beyond awesome, but I haven't got all too much hope. They'd have to cast Howland Reed, and we don't even know if we'll ever see him again.

we could easily see a partial Tower of Joy scene which just shows Ned and Lyanna, although I haven't heard of anyone being cast as her. I actually had a feeling watching the end of epis 3 that Ned was thinking of the ToJ

I'm looking forward to Cersie's future intimate scenes with other characters. Everyone who has read the books know that "she's been fudging Lancel and Osmand Kettleblack and Moonboy, for all Jaime knows" :D

It's just going to be weird to see the TV Series Lancel and Cersie together. The scene in ACOK when Tyrion lets Lancel know that he knows is going to be hilarious.

Think outside the box :D

If they do a good job casting Taena Merryweather, her scenes with Cersei will be epic.

I rather like the guy playing Lancel. He's such a gormless fool in the TV show, and in the earlier books he was a bit of a non-entity to be honest. With the way Lancel is being portrayed on TV right now, I rather think Cersei will eat him alive!!

Show Lancel is the perfect casting of a Fop In Training.

I really don't think Brienne will be that hard to cast as far as the ugly goes.

You can make anyone ugly with makeup.

Even Boaz.

So long as she's not diminutive.

Great point. Charlize Theron in Monster is a great example

Surely not! :p

I read on Winter is Coming (here) that they'd put out details for Brienne auditions. (I can't remember if anyone has posted about this already? Sorry if I'm repeating.) Anyway, this is what they are asking for:
[BRIENNE TARTH] FEMALE. Age: 20s. A skilled warrior in service to Renly Baratheon. Larger and stronger than most men, we first meet Brienne when she wins a tournament, defeating the famed Loras Tyrell. Big-boned and plain faced, she has an awkward personality, but is also honest and loyal. She is derisively known as “Brienne the Beauty”… RECURRING. (Season Two: 6 episodes/Season Appearances: Multiple Season) Must be a MINIMUM of 5’10″. Do NOT submit actresses that look like models. We are looking for a big, WARRIOR-TYPE woman that’s more MANLY than womanly.
Sounds good!

In the article they also posted about Melisandre's role. No details on what she must look like, but nudity is required. Why does this not surprise me?

While I agree with some of the nudity gripe about the show, I don't feel all that offended by it.

I love Spartacus.

Boobs, blood and butts.

Watch the first episode of Camelot.

Blecht.

Plus, I have a crush on Mel.

Unless it's the shadow birthing scene, which I'm betting it is.

Blecht.

Mel is never described in the nude, but she is portrayed as a voluptous lady. Easy to transfrom that into nudity for TV. No complaints :)

Could do without the birthing scene.

Camelot is rubbish, just like the BBC's Merlin :) What I would not give for a proper Arthurian series.

Spartacus is great.
