GOT- Things I'm Looking Forward to SPOILERS

Dany emerging from the fire unburnt with the dragons - Fire and Blood! The House Targaryen motto.
I'm just hoping they "go there" with the actual 'her hair has all burned off' bit. I wonder how Emilia Clarke will look bald.

Agree with you here, Lyanna. But I think that filming will be too close on the heels to do that, so what I think is that they gave her a "skullcap", if they go there. It might look weird but I guess they could gross it up so that it doesn't look that bad in comparison.

I am curious to see who will be cast as Brienne. Found an interesting post about this on winter-is-coming!

Discussing with a friend at work today, who hasn't read the books. Well I say discussion it was more like an interrogation.

"How can there be other books when Ned has been killed"
My reply, read the books.

"
but without Ned where can it go?. Is Rob going to beat the Lannisters and become King?"

Read the books.

" Does Arya kill Joffrey and Sansa before escaping the city?

Read the books.

My 30 minute lunch break was full of this. The outcome is she's borrowing my books meaning my re read before ADWD isn't going to happen.

Me too then. Whenever I read ASOIAF, I always envisage Brienne as Clare Balding (to non-UK readers - she's a broadcaster on BBC sport, most noteably horse racing/riding events).

Pros:
She just looks like Brienne. Come on! Google image her, you know I'm right!
She's tall - standing over a head higher than most of the men she interviews. Her co-presenter stands on a box for the cameras (this is true).
She knows her way round a horse, being an amateur champion jockey and having an interest ever since.

Cons:
She's a presenter, not an actress. I don't know if she can act.
She might not be as tall as she appears - after all, the men she interviews are jockeys...

So no, more's the pity. Not being an actress rules her out as we know how important the actual acting is. Still, if she knocked it out of the park in an audition....

CLARE BALDING FOR BRIENNE!

Syphon- I'm assuming that that's exactly what they'll do. Still, the visual should be nice.

Nixie- I can't tell you how many times (or with how many different people) I've had this exact conversation. It gets ridiculous.

As with most of my absolute favorite books, I have "master" copies and "loaner" copies. I don't loan my hardcovers out any longer. (That lesson was learned the hard way. Grrr.) That being said, since I've gotten the whole of my office hooked on the series, I've lent out my only loaner copy; fortunately the rest went out and got their own. As it should be. (But props to you for sacrificing your own re-read to spread the word. I applaud you.)

I just pitched Brendan Gleeson as Stannis. I was mainly going on the explanation of a clue by GRRM that one of the actors of the second season came from Dublin and he does sort of resemble Mark Addy. Just putting it out there. Would be nice, I liked him in Gangs of New York and Braveheart. If he played Stannis like he did Monk in Gangs, we're in for a treat.

LOL Oxman, I can really see where you're coming from. She wouldn't make a bad Brienne at all. I'm mentally picturing her covered in armour with a rainbow cloak! :)

They'll have to show the dragons moving, I hope they spent a little coin on some CGI...or will they use stuffed animals?
They'll shave the "creature" from Mr Gibson's latest film, paint it and add paper wings. A bit of clever camerawork to make three of them and voilà!

Given that the dragons are a constant presence** in Dany's scenes in the future, it's probably worth HBO's while producing some decent cgi dragons.

** - Like the direwolves in season 1 ;)

What is you suggestion, Ursa? That they find 3 lizards, put little tin foil wings on them and use clever camera work? :D

Don't forget that once they start "testing their wings" the little lizards with tin foil wings on them will get suspended in air with fishing line. Actors always do better with practicals! :p

You mean big budget Hollywood (like the 1960 film version of The Lost World)?

No. I was thinking of Mel Gibson's 2011 feature, The Beaver. (To be honest, I'm having trouble working out why I thought this might be relevant to Game of Thrones....)

I read that earlier TK. It definitely sounds like the Mereenese knot has been well and truly sliced. So, maybe only three years till the next book then? :p
