Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

The Urban part isn't the difficulty. My main problem has been coming up with a plot. I have one now, but the question is whether it is any good.

As I said, if I'm able to come up with anything...

You've done well throughout each of these challenges, TE, and I don't expect it'll stop here. :)

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Come on I am sure she has something devious planned and is just waiting to wow us with it. I wouldn't be surprised if she isn't waiting to unveil a Goblin pet shop clerk trying to convince his friend to buy from the latest batch of guard kittens or something equally tricksy. :)

(Shaking fist at the bear.)
As it happens, Teresa, you're a lot closer to producing an entry than I am.

(In fact, anyone with a ghost of an idea is ahead of me. :()

However, I will be posting something - anything I can - as I don't want to lose my 100% record.)

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

I hope, Hoopy, that you're not going to say, "Here's a nada fine mess you've gotten me into, Ursa."

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

I have always found that Ideas are easy. It's making something out of those ideas that is the real work.

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Although not, apparently, my last month's story.

And why do you say this? I believe I recall people saying that there are a lot of stories who don't get votes (and I'm not so sure yours didn't) that are very good stories. I'm not big on Fantasy, but I've enjoyed everything of yours that I've read.

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

I'm loving the humour that's creeping in, but I also liked the urban 'grittiness' of the earlier entries. I have posted - more of a musing than a story, but the muse wrote it, not me!

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Thank you, Parson. But for me April was definitely the cruelest month. Hence my crisis of confidence -- and I do think that I'm entitled to one of those without the slap.

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

You actually like being chastised by elderly ladies, don't you?

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Teresa:

Especially when it's free!

Imagine if you will, a line of smiley faces grinning at you from the screen.

I was wondering what are the chances extending the deadline, given our recent troubles?

I still haven't managed to shake off the shock of going cold turkey for three days.

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Finally came up with something, that was a tough one. Anyway it's done pewpew!

Admittedly, unsure about the ending though. I get it, though whether the readers will remains to be seen.

Ah, April may have been the cruellest month, Teresa, but think of the inspiration for this month. Breeding lilacs perhaps isn't the way to go, but showing fear in a handful of dust... and The Waste Land is as good a title for Urban Fantasy as I can think of!

As for me, I still can't get the ending of my piece right. I might have to dump the present story and find another.

*just posted on the challenge thread* Nervous... Err... I hope I didn't make anyone laugh by my piece of writing. O.O

Re: DISCUSSION -- The 75 Word Challenge May 2011

Arrgghhh!

I wrote one story a week or so ago, by hand, on my way to work. Just now I got a completely different idea, and with maybe three fourths of the first draft written I'm already at over 90 words.

But there is still time... if I can't get the new story down to 75, I'll just have to hope for a third idea!
