A Dance with Dragons ships early...

I now have to go into early bunker mode, which sucks because i'm still suffering GOT related postpartum depression. I've been scarce recently and i guess I'll be invisible until I get the book.

According to QBD at Toombul and Strathpine ADWD has a release date of the 1st of July which I thought was strange because I thought the official release date was the 12th of July.

I live in Belgium, so just maybe i'm getting me a copy, since i live in the country next door, and ordered with amazon. I doubt it though.

Never cared much about matching sets myself.
A book is a book. though e-books aren't my thing.
To think that in the future paper-books will be replaced makes me shiver.

Darp!

I'm still only a few chapters into my re-read of AFfC.

Most of the books I want to read are more expensive in e-format than hard copy. Am I going to pay more for a string of binary than a thick chunk of paper? No.

Serious? Dude! But surely that's a mistake... I'll check out the Strathpine store on Saturday in any case, will be out that way.

I thought it was a mistake also, but I have asked a number of times at each store, just to be certain. The last time I checked was Thursday of last week. Web site is saying the first also.

I also found this on their site, which is same book, different cover and only available online and not till the 12th

Voyager, the UK publisher, put out this release after the leak:

They actually ask you to avoid your favourite GRRM site if you want to avoid spoilers. Must admit, it wouldn't occur to me not to come here even if someone got an early copy, because I think the folks in this forum respect each other too much to spoil a book, just so that they can brag about knowing the ending.

Friends, as far as I know there are not any regular posters in this forum who live in Germany. Kiwi is indeed the closest, but I seem to recall someone years ago from Denmark. Young Stormlord and Raul are the next closest, but I doubt they're ordering from amazon.de. So I expect that to mean that we are in fairly good shape here regarding spoilers... but you never know. ADWD might generate some new members...

Here are the salient points from GRRM's Not A Blog. He's not happy about this...

If we find out who is responsible, we will mount his head on a spike.

Some other retailers are making noises about releasing their own stocks early, using the Amazon error as a justification. They are not supposed to do this. If you hear of anyone actually selling or shipping copies in advance of the publication date, please inform me ASAP.
He sounds like a Lannister when he's angry.

Should we start up a poll?
The question being, who will buckle and search the internet for spoilers....

I'm so hoping i can keep myself in check.

PS: Will moderators be keeping this forum clean, like with the westeros forum?
Or will the members have to look out for themselves?
And if it's the second, how big will the lynching party be if someone does the nasty?
Will viruses and others equivalent things in the internet world for pitchforks and knives be sent?
Will a hate-site, youtube-films, ... be made so as to ridicule this forummer?
And which forummer is it that secretly hopes for this type of notorious fame?
(See it all in the next few weeks on sffchronicles !!!)

I'm turning my internet off for two weeks now ;)

Does suck though, because if I come across one I will be sorely tempted.

I won't get it. Nothing like feeling the book in your hands when you read it. Let alone the scent of it. Fresh pages or old pages, it beats the scent of a computer any day. :)

hmm well I have no intention of reading any in depth spoilers, I won't hide from any interesting tidbits I come across online ;)
