Re: DISCUSSION - July 75 Word Writing Challenge

Let me be the first to say...
Science fiction?!?! What sort of a genre is that?
*sigh* I suppose there will be a wikipedia page about it somewhere.

Re: DISCUSSION - July 75 Word Writing Challenge

Or you could try automatic writing, I suppose....

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

Teresa, you need to delete the one I started.

Done. And posts moved into this one. It probably would have been easier to delete mine, but I was halfway through the process before I thought of that.

Anyway, for future reference everyone, it's usually going to be better if a mod starts the new Discussion thread, so that any posts that need to be moved from the previous month's thread (which is not the case this month) can be moved at the same time.

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

What, it doesn't have to be in the style of Chaucer?

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

Whan that Aprille with his shoures soote
The droghte of Mars hath perced to the roote
Than longen all roboten to goon pilgrimages

Or ... um, something like that.

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

This should be fun I already have two ideas for this theme. And I'm actually shocked that the genre is not intimidating me at all, where a month or two ago I might have cringed and/or cried. Guess I have Crispy to thank for that!

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

Aaaahhhhhh Not Robots!

Every other night what story do I have to read Perp Jr.? Robots! Robots! Robots!

And now I have to write one????

Teresa I was very impressed with your Chaucer there...

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

That's probably because most of it was Chaucer.

Imitating someone is pretty easy when you plagiarize shamelessly.

But if we take our lead from Chaucer, will we be writing our stories about robots, or will we write the stories that a robot might tell?

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

To 'Maker', presumably...

Can I hereby copyright my title for this challenge? 'How the Robot got his Tale'

That's the first thing that came into my head.
Were a robot to have a tail what kind would it be?
Would it be a fluffy chrome thing or a slender pipe-like construct?
Prehensile like Nightcralwer from the X-Men perhaps.

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

It'd be like a Brillo pad. ;)

I'm a wee bit obsessed with robots. I have them on my clothes, I have them on my wallet, my alarm clock is robot-shaped as is my lamp... But I doubt I'll be entering this month. This or the 300 worder. (Too much real-life stuff before anybody starts badgering me. :p)

Re: Discussion July 75 Word Writing Challenge

I don't know what it would look like, only that it would be able to spin. Otherwise, well, what would be the point?

Also, I shall be entering. Bit of a sci-fi fan so why the heck not?

I shall not badger you. I shall be like caged tiger pacing to and fro seeking the way to bring you to post about the tale of the robot and one about the space beacon/energy tap/laser/angel landing/directed solar flare etc. etc. I'm very good at hounding someone. I don't have to badger.

(Parson wonders if his badger pun works with British English or not.)
