Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

I'm finding the quality of the stories so far a little intimidating. Before people started posting, I had some ideas I thought I might be able to do something with, maybe, but I've discarded all of those because they look pretty weak compared to everything that has been posted.

Still, we have more than two weeks to go on this one, and I only hope that an idea with more potential will turn up during that time.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

I've spent all morning trying to get mine right. It started with 500 words and I've hacked, changed words, removed sentences and come up with my offering. Now I wish I'd left a couple of days, reread and done some more editing.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

It's an excellent story, nixie, and a different take on the inspiration picture than any of the other stories we have seen so far.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Fantastic story Nixie, You undoubtedly have my vote at the moment - well done!

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Okay all. I am Posted. Hahaha. It was the first idea that came to me and after sitting on it for week it is still the only idea that came to me. So... I decided to go with it.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

At this point, I'd be happy if I could just think of a story I really want to write.

(I think I keep saying that because usually no sooner do I moan and complain about my lack of ideas than inspiration almost immediately strikes to prove me wrong.

Not working so far.)

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

I've written up my one idea. Having just re-read it, I'm hoping better inspiration strikes.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

I have something, I quite like the idea, but the words -- gah, can't find the right words at all, at all...

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Mercy, some of these are pretty dang good. And a real book as a prize!
Donning thinking cap ......... beeep*!*!

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

So, after much ooh? and a little aargh! I've posted.

Now I can kick back, and enjoy everyone else's fine efforts.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

:(

My story is troubling me. I have the bare bones hammered out. I even finally settled on a style, deciding on nothing fancy. However the dialog is not coming together! I can't seem to get my efforts up to par with all your horribly wonderful entries. This is disheartening.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Well, I have a setting and a protagonist, but I'm currently missing a story. Looks like there are still a few of us tinkering, though. And I've got plenty of time yet. More than anyone else would allow themselves, I'll wager...

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

I ended up scrapping my first effort, as usual... but the good news is I have a brand new story just waiting for the husband to wake up and proof read it!

Of course, I may still end up scrapping this second attempt as well, in which case I will slowly start to panic.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Ok I submitted.

Not sure I am happy with it but it is suppose to be a challenge so I decided to challenge myself and try a new format.

I admit my mind works a bit . . . um oddly? First thing I though upon seeing the picture was, well you will see. :)

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Well after the banter , the jokes, the bollickings. I've decided to write a serious piece (I think).

No bare bottoms in sight.

I hope its well received. I am writing this story in a 6000 word story for Ian Sales anthology. (If he thinks its any good by the way).

So it was a challenge getting it to 300 words. I think I've done it but I hope I'm not using Crispenycate's calculator:eek:

If it's rubbish, it was fun writing. Can you spot the little secrets hidden in the words?:)

Onwards and downwards!
