Gosh.

Thank you very much for the mentions, Phyrebrat and Harebrain.

The Spurring Platty and The Judge: thank you so much for the votes.

I'm having a very happy evening!

(see how calm that was, how unemotional? Blase, that's me)

Stormfeather - This is the second one that caught me unawares. I’m not sure what I thought I was reading in the first place, but when the revelation came it made so much sense and worked so well it just had to make me read it again. And smile. Twice.

Thank you, as always, for your wonderful words. You are a total star for doing these.

And SF's (I can't bear sad dog stories, they make me bawl!)

I considered a cat story, but knew I'd lose votes straight away, and who'd believe a cat would be bothered by redemtion!

Stormfeather, I'm a dog lover and the ending to the story brought a smile to my face!

You've made me so happy!:D

Right – squeezed in my vote!

My ruthlessly cut-down shortlist is:

TSP
Hopewrites
Paranoid Marvin
Springs
Chrispy
Perp Man
Alchemist
Moonbat
Mosaix
Cul
Ursa
TJ

My vote goes to Alchemist – I just loved the way I felt after reading your story.

I’ve been ridiculously busy recently, and got to last Wednesday night without any real story in my head. But, I was determined to submit an entry, as, apart from the first ever challenge, I don’t think I’ve missed one.

So . . .

On Monday I dropped off some cat food to a local sanctuary, and somehow, the thought of the forlorn animals in their various cages got to me. I mangled the idea in an hour, and submitted.

Therefore, I’ve been totally delighted by the fact that somehow I’ve made it onto the shortlists of Perp Man (and thanks go to your lovely wife too!), TDZ, Moonbat, Highlander, TSP, Phoenixthewriter, Ursa and Boneman – although I haven’t had time to say thank you before now, it’s helped to make a stressful and non-stop week much happier and for me to cope with a skip in my step!

And then, Mith and Parson – you are lovely people who have had me dancing and singing round the house, much to the incredulous looks of my husband and children!!

Am now off to sleep, before the start of 5 days of madness – will update the blog with some pictures to show what I’ve been up to when I have a chance, but probably not before Saturday.

Night peeps!

Congratulations to Moonbat!

(And thanks for the shortlisting, SF. :))

My vote was for Nixie, but I discovered the pole was closed at 6:47 pm CMT.

Oh , and thanks for the short listing Parson (or should that be Father?)!:D

Well, I am a father and a grandfather, but not that kind.:D My parishioners often call me by my first name only, or perhaps Pastor. It's only in official correspondence I get the Rev. tucked in front of my name. I'm more than OK with being Parson here.:D

Congrats MoonBat!! That was one gem of an idea. I'd loved to know how the story played out.

Two more mentions? Better than I could have hoped for. Thanks for the mentions Stormfeather and Starbeast and more importantly to my NaNoWriMo cohort

Moonbat, congratulations on the win. How you found the time and the talent to do both in the same month...

I'm bowled over and my hat is off.

Moonbat, really well done, I thought it was really funny and well put together.

Thanks, too, Starbeast, and Stormfeather for my mention, I was really disappointed with my effort this month, so these lifted me a little.

Now, the hard bit, Moonbat; a December theme?

Dada Da Da Da Da DAH (dancing a one man conga) :D

Thank you all so much. I am, as you'd expect, very flattered by your praise and delighted to have won. A special thanks to the 7 people who voted for me, despite the glaring spelling error. When Boneman mentioned spelling mistakes I checked mine and was loathe to realise that I had mispelt Jowls (no E) but by then it was too late. The mistake showed up (underlined in red) in my word processor, but as it was next to Jabberwocky (also underlined in red and I'm not sure if I even spelt that right) my brain somehow merged the two and ignored the one I could be sure was an error. I'd like to apologise for making such and error, in a writing competition too!

As is the case with these polls ending, as they do, at midnight UK time, I had to go to bed knowing that I was in the lead and hoping that it stays that way, then waking up this morning eager to find out. In fact, I woke up early to feed the cat (she has taken to clawing the carpet outside our bedroom at about 6:00am when she wants attention, she's not allowed in the bedroom at the moment because the missus has had laser eye surgery, but anyhoo) then I went back to bed and had a dream that Perp had won with 8 votes, I was devastated until I realised it was a dream and probably not true, Phew!! (sorry Perp) ;)

So, a Christmas theme eh? I'll have to take a couple of days to think of one, but as that is all I have I should get on with it.

Thank you once again for your votes, honourable mentions, shortlistings and kind words. I have a conga dot (it isn't a line if there is only one person) to continue.

Funny I just read that post with Bubble Guppies (a bizarre kids show that I won't bore people with my objections to :) ) doing a conga in the background, not often that you get posts with stereo sound.

Thanks to those who mentioned me and a big congrats to Moonbat!

Congrats moonbat, and a big thank you to SF for the vote (and SB for the mention). That vote just squeezed me into the bridesmaid's dress for the second contest in a row. Honestly, tangerine? Who wears this kind of stuff?

Does the "grovelling admiration" bit, making sure he's next to a chair to lever himself back up…

Thanks for the mentions, Mouse, The Dusty Z, achemist, Mith, telford. Boneman, Perp, Pyrebrat and Stormfeather.

And many thanks for the votes Hex and RSliwinski. I thought the idea was good, but was never satisfied with the result; it's nice to see people appreciated it.

Yes, I did finally get round to voting, and it wasn't easy; I remember Hex's and Stormfeather's sticking on to the end, but there were a couple more – and I'm not going to open that spreadsheet again. Full stop.

And congratulations to everybody.
