Thank you for the mention, David Evil Overlord. And thank you for including me in your shortlist, Phoenixthewriter.

Ah, yes, so it was. Thank you for the mention on your long short list. :)

It took me ages to get my long short list, to a short short list - there are just so many wonderful entries.

Thanks for the short list David :) - I am still delighted to do anything this month. I was sure if I found it very forgettable it would seem that way to others reading it lol

Thanks for the mentions theDustyZebra and alchemist. :)

Thanks for the shortlisting hex, crystal haven, and Phyrebrat. :)

There's only a few hours left, and there are still far fewer votes in than there are stories. (In fact, I don't think anyone has voted since I went to bed last night.) For those who haven't done it yet: Go forth and vote!

Thanks for the hon mentions, folks.

I've had the same problems as ever in trying to reach a decision. My shortlist:

Boneman -- The Long Wait
crystal haven -- A heart of stone
Harebrain -- Woodwitch
mosaix -- Last Words
Teresa -- THE DEAD CAN WEEP
TheDustyZebra -- Coup de Plume

After lots of agonising, I've gone for HB and his jealous, witchy yew.

Thanks for the mention DEO, as I've said I did not expect shortlistings this month so it's really a smile educing bonus.

My shortlist:

Springs1971
Crystal Haven
Teresa
Johnnyjet
Mosaix
TheDustyZebra
The Judge

Top3:

Springs: could you get any more celtic?
Teresa: beautifully written, and very bittersweet
The Judge: great twist and construction, and a brilliant warped take on the theme

The next bit was really hard. All three deserved the vote, but in the end the Romantic in me gave it to Springs.

My not-so-short list ...
Karn Maeshalanadae - The Last Guardian Angel
Starbeast - Escape From the Planet of Peril
Scott R. Forshaw - The Butcher of ol' Howfen
springs1971 - The nun’s walk
AnyaKimlin - Hiptastic
Hex - Consummation
paranoid marvin - Probing Questions
Phoenixthewriter - Collateral Damage
HoopyFrood - Book Bound
TacticalLoco - Long Term Fidelity
Glen - I second that emotion
Parson - 2087 – Back to the Catacombs
johnnyjet - Hopelessly Devoted to
TheDustyZebra - Coup de Plume

It came down to two for me...

nixie - Man's Best Friend
HareBrain - Woodwitch

And in the end I went with nixie

Thanks all who gave me a mention. It is appreciated!

Thanhkyou for the several kind mentions, I was a little disappointed with my effort this month truth be told, but I'm glad some liked it.

Fantastic that we have so many excellent entries this month ; let's hope this continues!

A sincere well done to everyone who entered the fray this month, but the clear winner is Moonbat. All I will say is that one day I would love to write poetry so well.

Many thanks to Teresa, stormfeather, Parson and DEO (only here a month and already you have an abbreviation) for the mentions/shortlisting.

Now, two hours to go and only one vote in it. I smell a tiebreaker a'coming.

HB, thanks ever so much. Delighted I am :D
When the vote is over I'll post about where it's set ( I suspect at least one other person knows where it is) and is very Celtic.

1h 41 minutes to go and nothing between the two leaders. I too see a tie-break. It'll be pin-time again.
