Thanks to Crystal Haven, Moonbat, mosaix, Scott, alchemist, Hex, Phyrebrat, and Perp for considering my story.
I really can't say enough how very cool this site is!

Howdy,
I do not know where to begin, something ain't right, I could not make my story The Trestle work so I knocked out another at 2AM, took me almost 10 minutes. Who needs sleep?, hey Parson.
Thanks to Perp Man for the kind words (the ones I was able to translate)
Thank you very much,AMB, Scott R Forshaw, Aun Doorback, Abernovo, Perp Man and Phyrebrat for your votes, I still can't believe it.
Thanks for the mentions and listings to,Johnny Jet, Tatical Loco, Perp Man, The Dusty Zebra, Phyrebrat, Stormfeather and High Eight, I really appreciate them.
Bob

This was not easy! Usually I can drop several stories because I don't think that they are quite stories, and often a lot that I don't understand. This month I only had a few of the later.

Short List:
AnyKimlin -- Hiptastic (Laugh out loud funny)

Aun Doorback --- Brave New World

Chrystal Haven --- A Heart of Stone (Heart breaking)

Mosaix --- Last Words

Storm Feather --- At What Cost?

Shorter List:

Alchemist --- A Prayer for Evolution (You'll need to pray for forgiveness after this one.:D)

Vertigo --- Marduk's Eternal Duty (Clever man, really clever)

Phyrebrat --- Lollipop Lady (Great Story, Misleading Title)

Chrispenycate --- Musher (A Bad, bad, God)

Bob S. --- The Railroad Man (A devoted ghost???)

The Surprise Vote Getter:

Nixie --- Man's Best Friend (I am not an animal lover, but this one really tugged at my heart strings.)

-----

Thanks to Alchemist for the honorable Mention, and to Teresa Edgerton for the Short List.

life has a way of steeling time from me, as I lay in bed, exhausted, waiting for sleep to bring the morning much too soon I had a moment of panic when I realized tonight was the only time I would have to vote before voting ended. Leaping out of bed I rushed my computer on and forced my mind to pull together enough cognitive faculties to comprehend the stories at hand and then chose one among them all.
I fear my shortlist will probably reflect my negligence in understanding some of the more clever entries because there were quite a few I thought were good, but didnt see how they related to the theme, or was sure I was missing some main ingredient. I take all the blame for this, and send out my apologies for putting off voting till I was mostly asleep.
That said there were about 11 that I felt were truly fantastic, and of that 5 I wanted to vote for. I knew why when I made the list, but I'm passing out on the keyboard as I type and forgot to write it down.

your stories stuck out to me as fun and lovable
Hex
HoopyFrood

Boneman
Mosaix
each of your tales was compelling
I think I voted for Boneman, but dont quote me on that.

Spring, JohnnyJet, Moonbat, Vertigo, and Stormcrow thank you so much for your mentions and appreciation of my story.
Alchemist I loved your Academy Awards show, much better then the real thing I am sure (though I stopped watching it years ago).

*stumbles off to bed*

Thank you, StormFeather, for voting for my story. And the lovely comments. I'm so thrilled!

And thank you, Reiver, for your vote - it's greatly appreciated :). Also, thank you, Teresa and Parson, for the mentions.

Stormcrow - Yes, I enjoyed your story very much. I kept finding myself going back to it, to have another read. A well deserved vote!

Many thanks for the mentions Stormfeather and Hope.

Bob - seems I might have to stick proper English in future :D

And it seems to have been a month for people thanking me for the comments this month, which makes doing them all the more worthwhile. Thanks muchly.

I'd just like to add in here how much I love your comments, Perp. They're one of the best things about the challenges and each month I am stunned by how much work you must put into them and how you always manage to be beautifully positive. Thank you!

(ps: the rumours about two kids being far harder than one are exaggerated -- babies sleep a lot)

Thanks for the mention, hope!

The challenge alone was fun & rewarding, but it was a pleasure to read so many top notch works. It amazes me how much talent there is in this forum and how much excellent work was produced in so few words.

But a special thanks goes out to Perpetual Man for the good comments, Hex for the Honorable Mention, Moonbat for the Short Listing and especially TheDustyZebra for the Top Three Listing!

Thanks for the shortlist SF. Parson and Bob thank you for the votes, it has made my day.

Nixie,
Well deserved, I read all the stories from the top of the list to the bottom, then from the bottom to the top, then from the middle to the top and finally sideways. Yours was the story that I wanted to write but could not get anywhere near 75 words, my Pekinese thanks you for showing a dogs devotion.

Perp Man,
Don't give up, you are coming along quite well on my native die-lect, with a little learnin', I can hav ya takin good as I are.

Good Work EVERYONE !

Holy cow, 6 mentions! Thanks kindly Anya, Hex, Phyrebat, High Eight, and Hopewrites. 6 mentions feels like six votes considering the sheer number of entries!

My Shortlist, consists of only 4 entries, and emboldened was my vote:

Teresa Edgerton
High Eight
Nixie
Crystal Haven

Tactical Loco - A chilling tale that popped out at me from the beginning and stuck with me to the end.

I took a great deal of time rereading these entries, which took a few hours over this weekend. Great stuff, but alas, only one vote may be cast.

My shortlist (and it really is stretching the meaning of the word "short" to greater lengths than short has ever gone to before, but it's your own fault, all of you, for writing such good stuff!)

I have noticed the same "problem" here, though it is not one I would ever like solved. Personally I think it is because the participants do it for the love of the challenge and the safety in knowing that everyone here is supportive in the competitiveness.
Artistry in action, is what I have consistently seen here, with genuine concern for fellow artist, and genuine appreciation that everyone will put forth their best efforts. I adore this challenge because I know my unique view will be as appreciated as much as I appreciate the unique views of others; because I know that what ever my best is, it will be seen in that light. I also like that after each challenge is all over I can get specific help with the areas I am personally struggling with as a growing writer from people who know and care about me enough to want to see me succeed.
A rebirth of what "Friend" should mean.

The quantity of quality here is not a "problem" I would like "solved", either. :)

There are some very good people here. And I'm not just talking about their writing.
