The Winds of Winter publishing date guesses?

TWOW will have to be released before Season 6 of Game of Thrones hits the airwaves, so April 2016??, at the latest.
If it's after the show starts to air, at this point of where Season 5 ended, then EVERY new episode will contain spoilers, even if the plotlines between the show and book have deviated.
That's my thought exactly!

Well, that makes sense.I'll have to reread ADWD now to jog my memory.it seems ages since I read it.I have now almost finished PKD's considerable repertoire.

i actually should do a re-read of adwd as well, i keep forgetting what stuff happened in the latter parts of the books.

The audiobooks are good for jogging your memory, I tend to listen to them in the car, also helps me drive at a more leisurely pace too!

If you are going to re-read ADWD - do the combined read with AFFC - On Boiled leather they have a list of which chapters to read. I can't recommend it enough. If you know anyone reading the books - FORCE them to do the combined read. Think about it - Reading AFFC you could have an Iron Islands Chapter, dorne, cersei, jamie, sam, iron Islands, dorn Arya... It's hard to not start speed reading because the Jon TYrion, and Dany Chapters aren't even in the book. Those chapters cleanse the pallet and you can really focus on the other AFFC chapters, and enjoy them.

Would be quite simple on kindle too, as flicking between books is seamless. I would have adopted this approach if I hadn't already reread AFFC in my re-read. I'm not re-re-reading it just to intersperse with ADWD, as much sense as it makes :S

i still prefer old fashioned paper books

Me too.

Read all the GoT books. Impatiently waiting for the next one.

Never seen the TV show. I have a feeling I would be disappointed if I did.

Near as I can tell, the next book will come out between 2015 and 2018.

I'm going to estimate we will get TWOW around March 11th 2016. I think. It will be a month before the show comes out.

Your probably right! Isn't Easter the end of March next year? That would be the perfect prize at the end of the Easter egg hunt!

Indeed, which is why GRRM wants Book 6 to come out before Season 6 starts airing.

If he isn't done, though? The TV show will continue on and the book will come out afterwards. To a certain degree it doesn't really matter; the TV show is going to go eight seasons (or seven, but with Season 7 being a longer season split over two years) and there is absolutely no way at all that Book 7 is going to come out before the end of the series. We will see the end of the story on screen potentially many years before we see it in the books. That, unfortunately, is inevitable at this point and something I think GRRM is now resigned to.

Is there normally a gap between the hard and paperbacks being released?

I'll believe its coming out when I physically see it. Until such a fantastical time as that might happen I will oblige myself to watching the show. The stuff they have changed has been overall for the better anyway. A few things could have been done better but oh well. A tv ending is still better than no ending.

The show ain't bad, there's a lot of stuff way less good on the tv. I will def. continue to watch it. But overall i'm not pleased with a great many changes. I can live with them. But i'm not happy with them. Especially since some characters are almost butchered by them.

For most books yes - although now that Game of Thrones is really highflying because of the TV series it might be that there is very little to no delay; but in general there is a delay time

Yeah in general there is. I was thinking like you say as it is highflying maybe they just come straight out at the same time. Not important really but I think I will buy soon after it is released and would prefer to finish off the paperback set. Not to mention hardbacks are rather steeply priced.

That's why I go to my local library and get books for free.
