And one of the late posts may have just solved my very-long-short-list problem.

If a story sends a shiver up my spine, then I gotta vote for that one.

One just did.

Same here, David Evil Overlord, (can I shorten this to DEO, next time?) one has really caught my attention. But I'm not saying which one, just yet.

Yes, I'm cruel. :D

I agree DOE, I suspect some members have been holding back to the last day - some high quailty posts!

Do they know something a newbie like me does not!?

Good answer - I'm not 100% convinced but that would be the Irish in me. We hear tall stories all our lives so we're a hard bunch to convince of anything!

Good post by the way, hence the above.

I had a pretty good idea of which story I was going to vote for, unless something(s) came along near the end to make my decision much harder, and a fairly recent entry has shaken my resolve.

Anyway, less than four hours to go as I type this.

I'm going to have a nice coffee and a read through, and this time I'm going to start at the back and work forwards, as I've read quite a few of the early entries.... now, where did I put my nice green top hat.

I have done my homework, as Springs is planning and it was fun. I had 12 shortlisted at one point. Down to one now, pending New entries of course.

Little green hat on.......

And wearing your shamrock?

(Although I thought St Patrick's day was last Saturday....)

Yes, by all means -- shorten it to DEO. Everyone else does. :) I will not say which one, either, as I am also cruel -- but then I'm an Evil Overlord, so I'm supposed to be cruel. ;)

Yes, some good stuff all the way through, and then some excellent last-minute entries.

Howdy,
Got my vote in, there was never any doubt in my mind, Pyan hit the nail right on the head, great story.
Bob

Was a hard decision between my top four favourites, but I got my vote placed, in the end.

Runners Up:

Perpetual Man - That a world can be so skewed that people without magic are considered abnormal and bullied. Such a deep concept to consider in a world that revolves around magic.

Hopewrites - I've got to seriously wonder about what would be found in your fridge, a very entertaining perspective into why we shouldn't put open cans in the fridge.

Vertigo - I love the perspectives on worlds where science is unheard of or considered ridiculous that are coming through in some of the tales.

Aaron - The irony. So easy it is to ignore something negative, and we all want to do it, yet the negatives are often there to help.

TacticalLoco - Another entry throwing a perspective on a world that obeys magic rather than science, and how people would see science in such worlds.

The Dusty Zebra - What an interesting spin on the invention of the television.

Luigin - And along comes the new guy with a well written piece on one average joe innkeeper's perspective on what scientists consider a strange phenomenon

Top Three Runner's Up:

Bob S. Sr - That first awkward, romantic moment, so nice. But that last line is pure win. What a great last moment twist on the story.

Pyan - Brilliant story twisting the perspective on science and magic, to the point that science is considered almost contraband and is read/studied behind closed doors.

Glen - Always get a good laugh out of your writing, Glen. Loved the technical use of words, and always had a soft spot for crazy scientists/wizards.

And my vote goes to:

Alchemist - I can understand the men's confusion. That last line was such a brilliant twist that it leaves me laughing every time.
