I agree with Alex we will need lots of voting to repesent all the good posts. I'm down to a choice between two for now and I'm keeping a close eye on new posts. I did a full print off all the enteries yesterday and went through them, the only way to decide I think. It was difficult deciding and the months not up yet!

Springs:
PARSON: Lovely, the ceremony was beautifully captured and the pathos memorable

Thanks Springs! That's what I was going for. I wanted it to be haunting and yet capturing the human spirit which keeps striving against all odds.

Eeep! I just realized I only have until Monday to get my story written. Where did this month go?

out to the garden I suppose. looking forward to Friday and sitting down to catch up on pages 4 and 5.

Its gone very quite on here!

No more entries for a few days which after the rush form the start of the month is a surprise.

Not all that strange. The gap between the 'frantic to post' and the 'couldn't just another little polish improve it at the last minute' sets is a recurring phenomenon. And we're solidly into record territory, with three of our most regular contributors yet to deliver, and at least that many of more recent arrivals already easing into that status – I don't say this will be the month for seventy five times seventy five, but it's not unthinkable…

Which just goes to make the voting that much harder.

I have been very dilligent in keeping an eye on posts and weighing up each new post as it arrives. I have narrowed it down to three which I think is good going. It was two, but then someone stuck a good post on, grrrr, in a good way. A few polishers may make that selection more difficult for me but in general I'm well prepared. An organised man like yourself Chris will appreciate my effort!!!

I would just like to defend my status as frantic-to-post by explaining that the first time I wrote a story for the challenge ('Crime and Punishment') I spent ages honing 75 words on Prometheus, and planned to post it the next day only to discover that someone else (Hoopyfrood?) had done it while I waited -- and her/their story was much better than mine.

This has been a brilliant month. I have no idea who to vote for.

I know what you mean Hex, it took me days of honing the words to get mine just right this month. Even then I found it so hard to keep it within the word limit, and the longer I waited the worse it became.

Its a big list to re-read, I think it would take well over an hour just to get through them all. I had a busy day in work this week which helped with my decision!

As I will be away on holiday all through the voting period (coming back on the 30th April), I thought it only fair to comment now with my short list. Starred are my top three - I can tell you which I would have voted for, in case of a tie, if that is allowed? I wish I could vote for this month, so many brilliant stories! And apologies to anyone who posts entries after this comment. :)

David Evil Overlord - I really like the thought behind this one; that we created the robots with such demeaning roles, and now the future of mankind is in their hands, they don’t want to go back.

Perpetual Man - Subtle. Strong. Succinct.

* Mouse - *giggle* I just love that I can picture the narrator, scuffing a toe awkwardly through the dust, and not making eye contact...

* StormFeather - There is something very emotive about this piece, and it sends shivers down my spine. Very well done.

* Scott R Forshaw - Another brilliantly humorous response, and a very strong contender.

James Coote - Great to read a variation from the zombies and nuclear wastes. Particularly like the world-appropriate slang in this one.

Kiffinyjean - I love how this manages to explain so many things in such a small number of words. The tone is spot on!

HareBrain - very visual, this one. Really stuck with me after reading.
