Ooh, 3 votes, very excited now. I needed them, the coffee cup staring at me in the morning was going to be soooo big, I'd have been shaking for a week.

TISIPHONE: lovely bit of foreboding in there about the date, and another lovely take on teh new life theme

NIXIE: Oh, gosh you've seen me before my coffee, then. A really original take on the theme
TSP; the universal balancing continuity that is kids, and the force of play to give sanity in the midst of madness
AARON STONE: The dead narrator gives an eerie feel to this, and his sad attempt to fix it.
TDZ: Futility in 75 words... sent a shiver down my spine
DIGS: So very sad, and the title is perfect with it.
BONEMAN: The most famous promise of them all, brought out of desolation.

I will try to get to the 300 worders, but time is a little short at the mo. I'll have to up my typing speed....

It is a conspiracy, record number of stories. I normally read the entries as they come in, and then a few more times before I cast my votes. Now I'll only have time to read them all once. It was planned, someone broke my laptop, then an increase in entries, all cunningly designed to drive me insane.

digs! Where've 'ee been?

3 votes eh? I'm one of those people who find it easier with one.

Well, I'm expecting The Judge and Cul, both notorious last-minuters, to gift us with gems in the next few hours, then we have highlander and Aun Doorback, who have each very good recent records, and many more who might decide to join and become a part of this "not expecting another one like this for a long while" experience (feels strange not to have Ursa on the list).

This is not going to make voting any easier, of course; but did anyone say it was going to be easy? (Um, you're right, I did suggest that. I lied.)

So how am I supposed to get my three hundred word entry done if I've got to analyse all these?

Aun has already posted his, Chris.

And I have an idea, at last, but no final line, and I'm out tonight. I'm torn between posting what I've got before we go out, whereupon I shall think of the perfect line in the middle of Uncle Vanya when it's too late, or leaving it until we get back, whereupon we'll probably encounter floods on the M27 which stop us getting home before the Challenge is closed. Help.

WHAT A MONTH !
I have no idea where my vote will go.
I am awe-struck.

I have been for----one man--one vote, all along, but this month 6 votes wouldn't be too many.

Bob

I didn't really mean it, I was only kidding, I can't even pick one, woe is me, what am I going to do, I should have kept my mouth shut, ACK ! PANIC !
BBOB:cool:

It's a tricky situation and I would not dare suggest what you should do.
However, I will say that I'm a known risk taker and that coupled with the certainly that the high quality of Chekhovs writing would convince me to take a chance. (Also weighing the average commute time from theater to home-sweet-home.)

Or you could play it safe... Enjoy! :D

3 Votes! Woot!!

When voting, everyone, be careful that you are voting for the story you think that you are voting for! There are some titles that are duplicated this month.

Selling our 75 word stories on Amazon ... I hadn't thought of it, but it sounds like a good idea.

****

Only five hours to go, you slack- ... um, er ... those of you who are taking the time to polish your stories.

We have an excellent chance of reaching 75 in this historic month. Imagine the guilt of being the person who failed to post the final story that would have brought us to that glorious landmark. A lifetime of regret.

No pressure :p

Eh! I wasn't slacking. I was broadening my cultural horizons.

Unfortunately, Chekhov evidently knew blank-all about 75 word story endings, so I've had to go with my last line, more's the pity. So I've cast the story upon the waters and God bless all who sail in her.
