Great stories. My favourites (and mine) were:
Arkose – The Trojan Horse – good fast pace, a sense of a bigger picture beyond the 75 words, significant events, a post-post-apocalypse. Proper sci-fi. Second vote here.
David Evil Overload - The First Lawyer Of Robotics – more sci-fi, clever title, to think, the human race ended by a, well a, er, a robot for, er, companionship. Serves them right.
Perpetual man - The True Promise of A Post Apocalyptic World – Poetry, innovation, but I think just scraping in under the allowed word count.
reiver33 - Hitchhiking To Hell – Another hell of a way for the human race to end. Be careful what you wish for.
StilLearning – Hope – great description, hints at a bigger picture, life-affirming hope.
Mouse - Everybody’s Dead, Dave – Poetic, innovative, a great conversational style that gives the payout more oomph. Third vote.
James Coote – Ocean's Promise – A refreshing kind of apocalypse, wet not dry.
mosaix - There’s None So Blind… - … as those who will not see. Economically portrayed attitude, wisdom, pragmatism. A reminder of Desiderata which I have not read for years. You can just hear the world(galaxy)-weariness of the alien, it seems like he’s seen it all before. “..flapped his gills…” three words which carry exposition and a heavy comic load. A Tour de Force. My first vote goes here.
Azzagorn - Road to Nowhere – Hah! I remember waiting at the bus station after hiking the Ridgeway, trying to get home…or at least out of there…
paranoid marvin - The King's Shilling – I think the third stanza is my favourite.
Glen - Empty Date – I don’t generally do post-apoc. (I figure we’re already going to hell in the proverbial handcart) so the genre reminded me of the last time I had to include it in a story. I don’t like to waste characters, good or otherwise, so brought out Capt. Fan. again. I’m starting to get quite fond of his character, and his love for the hard-to-get Princess. Maybe I’ll get another chance to use him in the (post-apoc) future…
