HIGHLANDER: I know I should know the ref..., but it's late... a fab tale of how the written word gets carried on, and how books will survive

SLINDERMAN: i smiled at this, esp. their boney hides. Some thanks, eh?

THE JUDGE: chekhov couldn't do it better. A final (I think!) tale, and a nice little bit of redemption at the end of a recordbreaking month, beautifully written.

And it seems we will be achieving the magic 75, though not quite yet....

And now that the poll will be up in a very minutes, a reminder to everyone that we can each cast THREE votes this month.

I should have posted in the middle and titled my story, "Intermission" -- that would be a vote-getter, for sure!

Well I got through them all, so many...

And here are the results:

I present to you the list of honourable mentions:

Stilllearning - A lovely story that shows there is always hope.
DEO's Crotch... oh wait, I mean Bowler ;) - An interesting spin on what the world would be like if the flu became a life threatening epidemic.
Grizzgreen - Just shows that the quickest and most devastating method is not always the most atrocious.
HareBrain - This story sent a shiver down my spine. I could feel how creepy it must have been, and terrifying, for her.

Now for the runners up:

In the catagory of most emotional story, the nominations are:

Digs - A lovely story. Very sad, but I loved how he tried to make the best of their final moments together.
Leisha - A beautiful and sad story, the emotion carries over really well.
Alchemist - The emotion of this story sent a shiver down my spine, I really connected with the feelings being portrayed in this moment.

In the catagory of most amusing story, the nominations are:

Mouse - I can really picture the shameful look as he says that last line.
Hopewrites - Amusing tale, as to be expected from Hope. Not sure at all what to make with that last line though. ;)
Aun Doorback - I love the picture of a shopping cart 'burning rubber' and the fact that the voice in his head is telling him not stop talking - otherwise she will go crazy. Yet by talking to the voice in the head, he already is crazy.

In the catagory of most thought provoking story, the nominations are:

Perpetual Man - Amazing how one word can say so much.
The Procrastinator - Always found cockroaches creepy, and no surprise that any creature on earth would survive an apocalypse, it would be them. But the story also leaves the thought, was the passage that made mention to the meek really referring to humans?
David Evil Overlord - I loved the concept of this story, that robots can be as many shades of grey as humans.

rustling of paper, suspenseful moment....

The vote for the most emotional story goes to... Alchemist!

The vote for the most amusing story goes to... Aun Doorback

The vote for the most thought provoking story goes to... David Evil Overlord

I just voted, and something seems to be wrong with the percentages.

There are nine votes up there. And each single vote is worth 33% of the total...?

I'm sure it's got something to do with the fact we each got three votes this time instead of one...

It just means that one third of the voters (not one third of the votes) have chosen that story.

It's not surprising that you're confused. It used to confuse everyone else, the first time we had a competition with three votes each voter.

It gets even crazier as soon as someone casts only one vote out of their allotted three.

And then there's one that just slips in at the end;

Cul: obviously a fisherman in the house. A nice gentle tale for the last one, with a quiet desperation. There's no point losing our head.....

my shortlist (well long list:)

DEO
Stil learning
Aber
Mouse
Boneman
Hex
Azzagorn
Harebrain
RJM corbett
SCott
Paranoid Marvin

Like I said, not short, but I got it down to five:
RJM Corbett
Scott
Aber
DEO and
Paranoid Marvin

I then drank some coffee and chose

Scott; If i'd have had one vote, this was where it was going, the image stayed with me.

DEO; for a laugh out loud

Abernovo: it was just really moving, a sense of new hope.
