The Judge - Thanks for the shortlisting!

Brev - Typical. Get well soon.

As per usual, I'm guilty of voting on the last day, but given the subject, I've not procrastinated as long as I normally do. :)

The entries are listed in date-of-posting order within each category:

Honourable Mentions:
  • The Justice Tree by stevietee
  • Time to Reflect by ratsy
  • A cold wind to Valhalla by Aun Doorback
  • untitled by Pyan
Runners Up:
  • Getting The Drop by paranoid marvin
  • Rough Justice by Teresa Edgerton
  • Gruff Justice by alchemist
Winner:
  • Personal Development ... by r_j_dando

Looks like we have a tie break. I suggest that instead of our usual re-voting for the top two, we have a rap/poetry battle!! :)

I just voted. It was a toss up between Alc and RCG

Voted for Alc last month so went for RCG:eek:

Thanks to everyone who mentioned my story. Onwards and sideways:eek:

I'd shout, "Hip-hop hooray!" but I'd rather have a vote.

(But there are still two minutes to go....)

So the poll is now closed, and it looks as if we have a three-way tie.

And we have a three-way tie. Congratulations to RcGrant, alchemist and HareBrain!

I'm sure someone will be along with a tiebreaker poll soon.

I have this little voice at the back of my mind telling me that we use the tie to hang the last person to vote for one of the two winners of the tiebreaker poll.

(So we seem to have moved from Hip-Hop to Swing.... I hope Gary doesn't mind.)

I don't think we've ever had to do a secondary tiebreaker, or what would happen if the tiebreaker had a tie at the end of its schedule.

We already have a procedure in place, though we've never had to use it. If the time ever comes, the joint winners will have to come up with a theme they can both agree on.

What we might do for the 300 Word Challenge, where there is a prize and plenty of extra time to vote ... I don't think we've ever decided.

But no secondary tiebreaker for the 75 Word Challenge.

(And isn't this the first time we've had a three-way tie? A historic moment.)

This has to be the most disappointing ratio of votes to stories, though. And after such a good month otherwise!

We've had a four-way one, haven't we?

(That was for a 300-word story, to be fair.)

I think I may have failed somewhat in the way of considering the genre of myth/legend. I did hold the stories to the standard of using justice and myth/legend, thus leaving out a couple of good ones that I liked otherwise, but I'm not sure that all my favorites are properly in the genre. And for that matter, neither is my own.

As for the tie-breaker, I had to go with Harebrain -- he was a hare's whisker away in my first vote.

Thanks for the vote Culhwch and for the mentions folks.

As to the tie break my original vote stands for the alchemist ... great bit of reworking.

Thanks to the previously unthanked people who mentioned me.

Congratulations to my fellow finalists. I voted for 8ch-Bee, mostly cos I was scared he'd pop a cap in my ass if I didn't.
