This was a great choice of theme. Just about every single post could be described as either powerful, tear-jerking, or downright funny. (I really did tear up on some of these). I should partake in these more often!

Ratsy's, I loved. Imaginative and very touching. Then there was Bowler1's, which was exactly what I meant by powerful.
I'd also feel inclined to vote for StilLearning's - that was damned funny - if it didn't seem to stray a little far from the theme, even with the "Star-Celebrity" pun in mind. Still great, though. :D

Just posted, feels a little bit nerve wracking which is silly I suppose. I hope people like it, but if not it still gave me something to do on my lunch break! :)

Ah the old using a dog to garner votes ploy, eh? Can't say i condone such actions.... :p tries to wipe rusty from the hall of fame... :)

Haha! Damn, my evil plan has been foiled! What if I add a picture of a sad puppy at the end?

The photo contest is over in technology, the theme this month is Autumn. You could try your sad puppy over there :)
Started reading through last night and had to tare myself away, lots of excellent entries. Thanks again to PM for a theme we can sparkel under.

Finally come up with an entry. Found it really tough this month, which is quite ironical really.

rohb.vogue – Not only is this one incredibly dark, showing a world falling into belak destruction, but there is a great chilling end to it, where a figure of speech transform into something a little more than an empty threat. A perfect representation of despair and desperation.

Hex – There is something in loyalty, bravery and the ability to do anything through some indefinable feeling, like the ability to sacrifice oneself no matter what is done to you. Perhaps if you were able to focus on one thing, the stars above, you might be able to resist anything knowing that your sacrifice means others will survive.

Phyrebrat – I think the most important thing that comes through in this story is the warning to always read the label. How many times have we been told to read these signs, and just ignore them? Better yet haste makes waste, after all if the escapee had taken a little more time he might not have met the stars in quite such a manner.

FeedMeTV – Well this is just cruel. Not only does it set things up for a tragic romance, a man leaving his loved one behind on a dying world, but then it pulls the rug from under your feet, making you realise that it’s not a lover but a dog. And that makes it even worse, is the understanding that at least if had been a human left behind they would know – a dogs unquestioning devotion just makes it heartbreaking.

Tecdavid – With the price it seems that some tickets are now costing, it is not surprising that some fans would go to extraordinary events in an attempt to gatecrash proceedings and to see their starts in the flesh. Or land on them/close to them. A fun idea, well executed and garnered a chuckle!

Posted my story. Unfortunately, having a quick scan afterwards of the other stories, seems there are definitely some on the same wavelength as me this month.

Also unusually for me, I've had to heavily edit down to get to 75 words. Hopefully not too much was lost on the cutting room floor

For the second month running I haven't been able to write anything - here's hoping for November!

Thanks for the lovely review, Perp.

I know you're super-busy so it means even more that you take the time to write so many thoughtful and perfect reviews.

Hurray for you!

StormFeather – why do I get the feeling that this is the Earth that our little star traveller has found? That being said perhaps it is an indictment on any planet, that once life flourishes they are somehow lost and only the stars that shine remain pure.

TDZ – Oooh, a chill went right through me when I read this one. I could almost feel the oppression, a world where science and the stars have been denied, the truths hidden behind stories. What makes it so terrifying is the thought that even someone muttering certain words could lead to trouble. It reminds me of a song.

Robjwhite – This one felt both simple and beautiful, I think innocent applies to it more than anything else. I’m unsure what to think of it, whether it is a child playing, or a child helping his father on something more real, but it is clear, concise and pure. Wonderful.

PM – How could I do anything but smile at this poem. As always the poetry talent shines through, with a wonderful tale that turns the whole Star Wars myth on it’s head and combines it with our ‘reality’ I’ll be watching the sky from no on, very warily. “The moon’s getting bigger!” “That’s no moon....”

Mosaix – A final goodbye as a man slowly faces his fate. He will not live to see his wife and family again, nor will he reach the stars alive, but he might go further than any man before him, and eventually, no matter how long it takes he will reach stars... a touching, sad story.

The late posting members today - Aun, what can I say...

I've had a read through the entries and I have no idea who will get my vote, I don't know who to pick, I really don't.

Boneman, I am glad I just swallowed my tea before reading that. I like that. Good visual of a guy in a staircase with a note in his sweaty hand...as the aliens come and get him.

Thanks ratsy: I had the idea a week ago and other things kept getting in the way and I'd convinced myself the competition closed tomorrow, but luckily popped in today!!

Got mine in. As far as the title is concerned, I had actually thought of it (or to be accurate, I had actually Googled to find it...) before reading Tisiphone's version. Great minds and all that!

Blimey - getting lively around here, isn't it...

Loads of really really good stories...shortlisting will be a little like wrestling an octopus, methinks...

Tisi - That's neat. Really neat! Right up my street. Nice one.

I don't know, what can you say? Grimaces and closes eyes?

That I'm scarred, says Bowler1 from behind a rusty shopping trolley. :D

Lots of midnight activity, as ever, with highly polished and scary works. It had been slow in this corner of the forum, not anymore...

Yes, thank you, Perpetual Man. Hex has said it all so well.
