New Chapter for TWOW

If anyone has any info on any new readings or chapters, please let us know. It's been a year without a new chapter from GRRM. Granted, we may not get another, but you never know.

Has anyone ever thought that he may just never finish it? Jack Vance had a 12 year wait between the last two books of the Demon Princes.

It could be a marketing thing, with Martin just waiting for the tv series ratings to drop off so he can revive an interest rather than "jumping the shark"

I think he is preoccupied with one of his other projects. He did release the book of quotes by Tyrion, the world maps, and a new novella. Gods only know which project it is now that has him occupied. I shudder to think what the Football World Cup will do to his pace.

Not sure what you've read, but I'm tracking that there has been a Theon chapter, an Arianne chapter, and a Barristan Chapter.

Also you can read the reports of what people have heard in live chapter readings, I know there was at least one of a Victarion chapter.

Since this is the most appropriately titled thread... here is the latest sneak peek from GRRM... Alayne.

He's like a king handing out bread to the beggars...

Didn't even read it yet... had to post first.

Do you remember the Arianne chapter? Everyone complained about the lack of action... and I can see them doing that for this chapter as well. But what do they want for free... Jaime choking Cersei? Tyrion riding a dragon? No. For free, we get Sansa reading a story, walking around, eating lemon cake, and dancing.

But wait, don't get frustrated...

Littlefinger's plan is taking shape. He's further separating Yohn Royce from money, influence, and Harry.

Sansa keeps learning the game. Cersei once told her to learn to use what's between her legs... and she's beginning to think about it. She's not a passive character anymore. Not only is she becoming adept at seeing the game, she's starting to manipulate people.

Robert starts his own knightly order to rival the Kingsguard.

Shadrich comments about just finding a bag of dragons. Hmmmmm, isn't that the reward for turning Sansa over to Cersei?

Well, that's what I get from the new chapter.

the chapter has interesting tidbits, but as you say many will find it too slow-paced.

In this chapter the foundation may be found for a future Sansa/Petyr break-up. He obviously supports Harry the Heir, whereas Sansa has her misgivings. Though in part she seems to brush over him having children with 2 previous women somewhat easily. She does notice his behaviour, which doesn't seem to be that good. He speaks rather well of his daughter, but not so much about his first lover. And by the end of the chapter he seems to genuinely toy with the idea of exchanging his new lover for Sansa (rather quickly too).

ahahaha You've beaten me to these.

so with the release of yet another new sample chapter, GRRM basically forgot about him trying not to release 1/3 of the book as he did with adwd. Not that i'm complaining. But we've got a lot of sample chapters for his new book already. So what does this bode for the release date? Does him releasing a new sample chapter mean he's close to finishing it. Not long ago it was reported his new book was closer to being done than many thought or something along those lines. Will we get our hands on tWoW within the next year? I posted on Feb 17 of 2012 that the release date of tWoW would be in Spring 2016, will i be right on the money? And if so, know that i'm expecting lots of cookies for my cookie jar to arrive in my mailbox.

i was quick browsing the westeros forum, i usually don't go there (too crowded for my taste ^^), but i was curious what they where making of the Sansa chapter. When i stumbled upon a poster whom said he believed Sweetrobin to be Petyr's child with Lyanna judging on his looks. Using the descriptions of Harry whom looks like Jon Arryn when he was young, Lisa, and Petyr as his 'proof' for his theory.

Now i'm kinda liking this. It falls in line with what we know of Jon arryn, Lisa Tully and Petyr relationship, and what few words we got to read about them.

If true it has certain implications. If it can be proven Harry immediately becomes lord Arryn (but it prob. won't). It also means that Petyr is likely unaware of this, given his disregard for sweetrobin. And last i checked Petyr just became Lord of Harrenhal, so tragedy is bound to be on his way for him.

Shadrich, is very interesting, so does he know Sansa is Alayne?

I can't remember who knows Alayne is Sansa as the tv series has changed that part of the plot?

In TV Show, Lord Declarents, or their version of those, all know.

Shadrich might know. He's been looking for Sansa as he had told Brienne when he met her in Riverlands. However, as long as Sansa's locks aren't auburn, she's likely safe. He doesn't know much about her description beyond the colour of her hair and that she had blue eyes. Plenty of people with blue eyes around. xD Then again, Alayne is the only person not generally known there.

This is going to drive your readers crazy, but I love it. I’m still weighing whether to go that direction or not. It’s a great twist. It’s easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters. They have to grow out of situations. Otherwise, it’s just being shocking for being shocking. But this is something that seems very organic and natural, and I could see how it would happen. And with the various three, four characters involved… it all makes sense. But it’s nothing I’ve ever thought of before. And it’s nothing they can do in the show, because the show has already—on this particular character—made a couple decisions that will preclude it, where in my case I have not made those decisions.

I take it that preclude doesn't mean that in the show they already included it within the character, something GRRM hadn't yet done, but that they went a certain direction with the show that now makes it impossible to go there with that character, whereas GRRM can still go there with that character. If my guess on this defintion of the word preclude is right i'm thinking maybe Jeyne Westerling or some other person in atttendance in the Red Wedding.

In the show they replaced Jeyne Westerling with Talisa Maegyr (funny name that), and had her and her unborn son killed. Whereas in the books Jeyne Westerling is still very much alive and on her way to the Crag. My biggest IF on this is, that it kinda makes the Rickon storyline pointless. I mean if Jeyne is carrying Robb's heir then there's no place for Rickon. I mean given that Jon has given his vows and the situation with the North, the overlapping of Jon possible being Robb's heir and Rickon being Jon's heir are possible. Not so much if Jeyne Westerling child once more comes into play. Her not given birth makes sense to the rest of the storylines that are happening.

At the same time, even if oes not seem to match other storylines she may very well be pregnant. Plus there's so much there to possible happen during the voyage to the Crag or even in the Crag itself. What with her brother Raynald also merely presemed dead, a body was never found.
