Discussion thread -- 75 WORD WRITING CHALLENGE February 2013

Ursa – [...] Is this the story of how the moon became our satellite, that is what it felt like to me, something that did not impact upon our planet?
Er, no. Given it's voting time, I can't be anything approaching explicit, but there are at least two (apparently well hidden) clues as to what the narrator (vaguely**) may be.

** - When I say vaguely, I mean vaguely, i.e. the narrator is not something you'll have seen or read about.

Thanks Hex.

And thanks EricWard. While you were nearly spitting out your coffee I was nearly choking on my salad. Not an easy thing to do.

Hey, Thanks for the mention Perp! Nice end to a great day off. (Yes, Parsons take days off, usually Mondays. Why do people hate Mondays? Best day of the week I always say!!)

I really did not think I had it, but once I got the image of the moon in my head I could not get it out and it obliterated anything else.

Thanks JJ for the vote! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :D (wooo! votes!)

You'll just have to give yourself an eclipse round the ear to remind you not to do this again. ;):)

I've nipped in here so rarely (query writing) that I missed things. Thanks for all the mentions and bigger thanks to Hex for the vote!

I voted for TDZ (I note your thanks) - you had me at Escher-port. I look forward to a novel now, full of Escher-ports, Escher-ships and Escher-worlds.

Kylara came a close second.

Well a lot of thought and here we go:

The three runners up: Reiver33, mosaix and Paranoid Marvin.

It was a really hard call between all the entries, let alone the final four, but in the end there was something about an individuals DNA being patented without the knowledge of the person that really made me think, so Chris have a vote.

Ahh yes, one of those ideas that is far larger than the story can possibly be! :D I wish I could find the words to write more about that image in my head, but I'm afraid I could never do it justice.

Been away from the forum for a while so not able to enter this month. Alchemist gets my vote though, made me smile :D

Particularly liked hopewrites' too.

Hey everyone!

Sorry for not giving proper thanks to comments and votes so far! I was away on vacation (Spring Break) upgrading my skydiving license.

On that note, I'd like to thank Lenny for the vote, and Victoria Silverwolf, Starbeast, Tecdavid and Perp for the lovely comments regarding my story!

Without further ado, here is my short list, shorter list, and vote.

Abernovo
Karn Marshalanadae
Kylara
Juliana
Crispenycate
Victoria Silverwolf
Alchemist
Glitch
Lenny

Cheers!

Firstly a big thanks to Talysia, Abernovo, EricWard, and FeedMeTV for the mentions. I was really pleased to get my whole original idea in, though I was prepared to pare it down microscopically should the word count require. So I'm very happy that others have liked it as well.
Thank you.

It was an 8-way tie for my vote with none of the contenders giving an inch and the rest on my short list keeping almost neck-a-neck.
tying for third:
Victoria Silverwolf, TecDavid, and Nixie
for second: Paranoid Marvin
and tying for first: Talysia, Hex, Chrispenycate, Boneman, Glitch, Mosaix, Perpetual Man, Prizzley, and Phyrebrat. with my vote going to the Mistress of Creepy-Cool, Hex.

Thanks all for a most delightful predicament. I half wonder if I couldn't chose one to vote on for so long just so I would have to keep reading all the stories over and over again.
