ABC of ASOIAF

Vaes Dothrak - The only city of the Dothraki people, situated beneath the Mother of Mountains at the edge of the Dothraki Sea. Known as the Womb of the World and associated with a dozen other pseudonyms for womanly bits. A holy place, where Khalasaars come home to roost and leave their arakhs outside. Vaes Dothrak is where Khaleesi are sent to die after their Khals have departed for the Night Lands. Dany ate a stallion's heart there, and her unborn son was dubbed by the Dosh Khaleen "The Stallion Who Mounts the World."

White Walker -- As winter approaches, they come from the far north of the world. Stories told in hushed tones 'round the camp fire tell of an ancient war between the First Men and the Children of the Forest against the White Walkers. Once driven back from Westeros, the Wall was raised to keep the Walkers forever at bay. Now that winter is coming, the Walkers have again been seen active north of the Wall, killing those men that they encounter. Those who fall by their hand rise again to serve their slayers as Wights.

Double for Beta! Very nice!

Of course the double for X has been done already... so I'll do one ending in X.

House Brax. A family of the Westerlands. Their heraldry is a purple unicorn on silver.

Azor Ahai- defeated The Others using the sword Lightbringer, which he finally forged using the heart of his wife Nissa Nissa (which can be used to spell assassin, poor Arya :( )

The Andals. A race of tall and fair haired people who invaded Westeros around eight thousand years before AGOT begins. The Andals originally came from the hills southeast of Pentos. The Andals put their imprint upon Westeros. They brought their faith, the god with seven faces. And they claimed to be led by a seven sided star. They cut out great swaths of Westeros in which to dwell. They drove the First Men and the Children of the Forest out of all of the most fruitful lands. I suppose they intermarried to some degree with the First Men, but all the major houses of the Crownlands, the Stormlands, the Vale, the Riverlands, the Reach, and the Westerlands, with a few exeptions, all claim descent from the Andals. House Lannister may be the best example of pure blooded Andals. The conquest of Westeros was so encompassing that the Dothraki still call it the land of the Andals in their barbaric tongue. I also find it interesting that it seems that the Andal invasion was right about the same time that Azor Ahai defeated the other.

House Baratheon of Storm's End. The Stormlands were one of the realms of the First Men. The last of the Storm Kings, Argilac, was slain by Orys Baratheon, possibly the ******* brother of Aegon the Conqueror and his famous sisters. Orys married the daughter of the late Argilac and ruled the Stormlands in her right. Their descendants took the words and sigil of their mother's people, "Ours is the Fury" and the crowned stag. The Baratheons were loyal to House Targaryen through the Blackfyre Rebellion, but Robert Baratheon rose up against Aerys II in what became known as "Robert's Rebellion." Robert was the second cousin, once removed, of the king, and gained the crown at the rebellion's successful conclusion.

His marriage to Cercei Lannister cemented a strong constituency for the Crown thereafter.

Camel's C***. A vile term used by the Braavosi.

Double.

Dragonstone - castle and island that were originally the seat of House Targaryen. When Robert Baratheon overthrew them, he gave it to his brother Stannis.

Gerold Dayne aka Darkstar- allied with Arianne in aFFC. Maimed myrcella, now being hunted by Balon Swann and Obara Sand.

Already had a D, Imp, if you want to save that one for next round. :)

Elderly Eldon Estermont of Estermont- the aged Lord of Estermont, husband for dear Spotted Sylva Santagar of Spottswood

WHoa. Nah, it's only double: Eldon Estermont :D

Edit: I don't recall Spotted Sylva Santagar of Spottswood has been used yet...feel free. :D

Fury - Lord Stannis' war galley.

Nice one by the way Eversummer. :)

Just got lucky since I only recently finished my reread of AFFC (a slow progress)

Gunthor Grimm of Greyshield, lord of one of the Shield Islands that the Ironborns attacked, held captive in his own castle as Ser Harras Harlaw Heir of House Harlaw, took over his land

Whoa, that's G and H... I'm not entirely sure if Harras Harlaw has been used before :D

Ilyn Payne was the captain of guards to Tywin Lannister when the latter served as Hand to King Aerys II. Payne jested over who ruled in Westeros, and the king took his tongue, but the muted knight did not cease in his jesting. He kept his sense of humor, even after King Joffrey I appointed him royal headman. Notably, he earned the trust of Jaime Lannister, who confided in Payne his secrets.

BRAVO :D...........best post of the thread, by far

Ser Jorah Mormont - Son of the previous J, Lord Commander Jeor Mormont. The black bear of the Mormont family, Jorah lives in exile in Westeros after running from the King's Justice (at the hand of Eddard Stark) for selling slaves. He hobbled along for years as a simple sellsword until he happened upon the opportunity to enter the service of the Last Targaryens. Originally hired by Viserys, Jorah soon began taking orders from Khaleesi Daenerys, clearly seeing her as the safer, longer term bet. Turns out he was right. He stood aside and watched as Viserys hung himself with his own stupidity and followed Dany into the Red Waste. Things were looking up until he tried a smooch, after that it was just awkward. It seems that bears don't handle rejection well. When it came to light that he originally spied on Dany for the chance of a pardon from King Robert, he was cast out again. In spite of his clear anger issues, still hoping this one earns a chance at redemption and gets to see his homeland again.
