Discussion -- 300 Word Challenge #9

The image is meant to inspire, not provide a template for, the content of the entries.

Having said that, you may be correct about the content of some of them. (Your job could be to prove that something else may come of it....)

Putting the try in triremes, we must be.

(With apologies to Yoda.)

Yikes! It's not even April yet here in the USA. (Insert comment about backward colonials here.)

This should be a very difficult image to create something around, without being very non-literal about it. In that way, it ties in with an idea I've had in my head for quite a long time. Maybe this will bring it to life.

The only way I could ever think of doing something like that is if I go with an anthropomorphic undertone, and that is something I shy away from.

But that's for the other discussion thread. Hehe. I'm starting to feel better about the 300 now...

An old style map with ships that appeared to be triremes...

Interesting how we can all look at the same thing and see something quite different. I see Viking dragon ships ... except that they're a little short and tubby for that. For triremes, too.

I'm thinking the love-child of a dragon ship and a cog.

Just to echo Ursa, the image is there to inspire, not to be explained. Not only do we have ships (I'm put in mind of the Bayeux Tapestry there, ie the later Norman ships not the original Viking longboats), but we've castles and forts, towers, what I think is a bridge, a dragon** and a sea-monster, not to mention mountains and a compass rose and a dozen evocative names!

Good luck, everyone!

** someone's going to be happy, then... :p

This is an interesting picture. It's not inspired anything directly yet, but I'm started to get a few ideas that might lead to inspiration.

What a month to take a month of from writing comments. I must have forgotten there was a 300 word challenge ;)

Different than the usual photo we have. A few possibilities spring to mind. Will leave my subconscious mull over it.

Dragons, yes I too can think of someone who will be happy with that.

How can it have been three months already? I haven't basked in enough glory yet!

Anyway, I'll give this month a miss methinks.
