Discussion -- 300 Word Challenge #9

That's a possibility. Especially since, just at the moment, I'm all at sea about what I should write.

So am I.

And with no sight of an idea, let alone a raft of them. :(

I had an idea the first day, but I haven't tried to do anything about it yet. Maybe this weekend.

I had an idea the first day, but I haven't tried to do anything about it yet. Maybe this weekend.

I was like you, I began to formulate a story right away. Two ideas popped into my mind, BUT...I remembered a story I was saving for the 300 challenge.

On the second day of this month, I began to write the story in my mind, then on the third day I wrote my first draft. The picture for this month was as if someone knew what I've been hoping for.

I know someone will post immediately as soon as the challenge is open on the tenth. I wonder who will it be?

I've not done this one for months, but that map has stirred my brain cells. I've got my 75 in early, I might give it a go.

Well, no matter how the story does in the comp, I had a lot of fun writing my entry. That's a big enough win for me right now.

The idea came to me the instant I saw the map. Good choice of pic Ursa. I'm looking foward to reading this month's stories.

Despite posting today, I had the devil's time coming up with anything. And there was no reason for it, except my mind closed at the image and refused to come up with anything except epic fantasy. I did consider doing 300 words description of a beach, but decided against it. :)
Anyway, broke the block on Sunday. Like Glen, I came in a few words short in case some of my hyphens pushed it a bit, but they seemed to suit the character's voice.

Glen and Luiglin, nice early entries, they both raised a smile!

Another one in. I had the idea for this right from the start. Fun theme! And some very different takes on it. Looking forward to seeing how many directions we can all take one picture to. :)

Sounds like Sunday was a good day for writing! I was almost resigned to writing fantasy, but came across an old idea whilst organising old notes. A few changes, some story, and added locations later, and I had something that worked (though was totally different to how I planned before I started writing... hmm...).

None of my word counts agree (despite using four different methods of counting by hand), but because they all came in at under 300 I figured I might as well throw caution to the winds (bu-dum...) and just post it.

@springs - I've been waiting for an opportunity to bring back the Dark Lord and his cowed minion since their first outing in a 75 last year. Glad it raised a smile.

Good entries so far folks ... here's to many more :)

Oh dear, is it the 10th already? I should know that, because it's my brother's birthday, but story-wise it's taken me by surprise.

Lots of good and varied entries so far! It's always fascinating to see how different everyone's ideas about the same thing are -- it's no wonder crime scene witnesses are notoriously unreliable. :D

"What do you mean no-one else saw it, Officer? I'm telling you, this giant orange squid thing came out of a portal! It's what made the driver swerve and crash into that lamppost."

Luiglin -- an amusing spoof of fantasy themes

Glen -- a biting satire of advertising that reminds me of the great Robert Sheckley

springs -- a vivid story with well-drawn characters and setting

Juliana -- a powerful allegory of the process of creation

Lenny -- an imaginative depiction of exotic technology

Karn Maeshalanadae -- a spooky tale with an ironic twist

Please don't tell me I'm the only person seeing food again? It looks like a giant crisp.

Everywhere you post, it always seems to come down to food and sex, Mouse.

A pleasant way of looking a life.
