I hope I didn't miss anybody, if I did let me know.

Great job to everyone and a BIG congrats to DAVID EVIL OVERLORD & THE JUDGE.

Well done to DEO and TJ. Two excellent tales.

Voted for the Judge first time around and nothing's changed.

An impressive come back, Judge - this one will go to the wire. Nails are being munched to the quick, and that's just me! :p

Congratulations to our two finalists, TJ and DEO! Either story is worthy of a win, so we're in good hands regardless.

I've fallen behind on my appreciation, so thank you for the shortlistings, Brev, EloiseA and chrispy, and for the finalist/shorter list/runner-up listings, Boneman, jimness and Ursa, and a really big thank you to TJ for the kind words and the vote! :D

And yes, stormcrow, it seemed that way to me as well -- a much tighter grouping than usual!

As per request (and a tad obscure, I know)

One Moment, Please

He was a figure sculpted from muscle, silhouetted against the neon city. Yet his shoulders sagged, as if bearing the weight of the world.

I stood beside him, looking down at the metropolis. “Can nothing be done?”

He shook his head. “No. In every possible future I destroy all that is important to me. Even you, my non-judgemental friend.”

“Captain-”

He roared at the night sky. “Marvel upon my works, ye mighty, and despair!”

Reiver33, even though you are late, I will still honor you with a review.

Reiver33 - A stunning story about a super powered being who is a destroyer of a world's civilization. And he does it over and over again. Is he cursed? Or is he evil? I would love to read this post as a 300 challenge tale, and get into more of the story, because you've got me hooked. Good stuff.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks Harebrain, Moonbat and Brev for the mentions.

In the tie breaker, I voted for DEO. Has the polling ever been this close before?

Congratulations, The Judge, and DEO. Well done, to both of you.

My vote for the tie-breaker is The Judge.

And many thanks, to Stormcrow, Dream Walker, and jimness, for the short listing, and Boneman for the finalists list.

And thank you very much, Abernovo, for the very nearly vote. :)

Well done DEO & The Judge - another tie-beak!

Seems to be a much tighter distribution of votes cast this month than usual... ...but I may well be wrong!

(I wonder: can chrispenycate gave us some stats on that?)

My vote goes to David, as was my vote-winner the first time!:)

No. I don't put tie breakers into my charts (apart from mentioning they occurred) and it's only since sweating over the three hundred word poll that votes were named.

While I'm here. vast thanks for Mosaix for the vote; when did you add that? I'd completely missed it until I started updating my charts.

Chris - Much respect to you for keeping them anywhich-way! I've found them fascinating, for one.

Crystal Haven, Phyrebrat, you are more then welcome. I like nice tight prose with luminescent phrasings and no plot holes. You both more then deliver.

As for the tie-breaker? The two never made my top five, I am sorry to say.
While the concept of the judge of revivification of a daughter through soul transfer is touching to say the least, from my understanding of the genre, the owner of the soul is revivified, not the personality of the deceased body. So the mother would be transfered not the daughter, as the spirit of the daughter has passed into the arms of the creators. If the judge had used a clone process from the original with embedded memory recall, then you would have had me. As I read the story originally, it seemed to me it was the woman being revivified, not the daughter for some obscure purposes of vengeance against the wrongdoing spouse, and hence the will as testated.
For these reasons I am directing my vote to David Evil Overlord's homage to science fiction's golden age.
Loved the shades of Heinlein and nuances of Bradbury. A tip of the hat to you.

It was hard for me to choose between DEO and TJ - both worthy winners. My choice went back and forth between the two so I slept on it. In the end, I went for DEO. Congrats in advance to the winner!

Well, let's see. We had 42 votes the first time, and at this moment we are at 40 votes and tied. I'm gonna say two more votes at one each and we'll be good! :)

Of course, the tiebreaker never gets the same number of votes as the original, but what the heck.

So the tie wasn't broken.

Congratulations, David Evil Overlord and The Judge!
