Thanks for the short list Parson! and Mr Orange, I am proud to have made it into the top three. Thank you

It seemed like the overall quality was up this month. I really enjoyed reading all the stories.
Also much was said of the 'last minute' posters but some of my favorites were on page #4!
Way to go everyone! A truly super month of entries I thought.

Short list
Victoria - Another well told, humorous yarn that bangs the theme right on the head. Crazy.
kromanjon - I liked the symmetry and the voice of it.
David Evil Overlord - Nice tale. :)
Venusian Broon - Clever alternate history. And real humor is always a plus.
TheDustyZebra - Your story meets the challenge well, squeezed in character development and made me snicker.
chrispencate - Who isn't a Tolkien junky? And this fine poem could easily be the real thing.
TheSpurringPlatty - Great ending twist! Didn't see that coming.
JordanSC5 -Welcome. Cute story and an engaging writing style.
Culhwich - What a nifty idea for a story. So why do we bother to get out bed each morning?
AJB - Alternate histories again. But everything comes down to the 'human' factor.
Phyrebrat - You got a lot of wonderful twists and turns into those 75 words.
Ursa major - A science play on reality. The ending(?) elevates it so well.

Winner
reiver33
- Best use of archetypes should be a category. Anyway, this one stuck with me quite a while.

Thank you(s) to Perp, StarBeast and Victoria for helpful, interesting insightful commentary.
And to johnnyjet, Starbeast, RoninJedi84, ratsy, for the short listings.

Fourteen on my shortlist this month! And it looks like I'm not alone in that respect. Maybe we should start calling them longlist, not-as-longlist, littlest-longlist, and vote:

Thanks johnnyjet, Starbeast, Boneman, TacticalLoco for the mentions.

Parson - Thanks for the vote! You make me sound far more clever than I am.

Now, to find time to read all these wonderful stories!

Wassat? A vote snuck in? For Me? Thanks Aber - I'm delighted you liked it!:D
No problem, pal. :) I really did like it, particularly the variation on the Weaver myth. It was a perfect fit for the theme.

Thank you for the listing. :)

Wey-hey! A vote! Thanks, mosaix.

My shortlist (in no particular order)

Victoria Silverwolf
springs
Tywin

Thanks for the short-listing, stormcrow, Starbeast, Boneman and TacticalLoco. :)

And thanks for the not-as-long-listing, Lenny. :)

And more thanks: to Perp for the mini review. :)

Yes, I definitely think it's the long list, the shorter longlist, and the least longlist, or something like that -- but there are a lot of entries this month, so I don't feel guilty.

Victoria Silverwolf -- Antipodes
springs -- Leave it to the Kids
AMB -- Coastal Erosion
*alchemist -- Running to Stand Still*
DEO -- The Streets of the City
reiver33 -- The Final Chorus
mosaix -- The Restaurant....
Venusian Broon -- An Unexpected Plane Journey
Alex Mason -- Extra Credit....
MemoryTale -- Proof
Tywin -- The Leap
crystal haven -- Second Sight
TSP -- (Book)Ends of the Earth
PhillipAEllis -- The Wanderer....
Mr Orange -- Forever After
Boneman -- Starlight, Starbright
Moonbat -- The Last Place on Earth
Culhwch -- The Pointy End

I'm afraid that a few of my favorites just missed the shorter list when I just couldn't quite manage to think of them as entire stories -- but I loved them nevertheless.

That's a shortlist?

Hex Quest to the east, Quest to the west

ratsy Where the Stars go to Drink

Venusian Broon An Unexpected Plane Journey

TheDustyZebra Pop and the Question

Tywin The Leap

SleepyDormouse The Needle worker

johnnyjet A Gracious Gesture

BetaWolf Manning the divide

Parson A Miserable Evangelist

HareBrain In the Lost City of Z

Although I fanally went for the dusty Z

Karn? You've been around long enough to know not to vote for Chrispy! Who knows what excess he might get into next time? Still, thank you very much.

Starbeast, many thanks for the loyal shortlist, but

Rushes up and hugs Parson - sorry reverend, it's a sort of continental hug, think of it as primitive Christian you noticed the "autobiographical" – I wasn't sure anybody would. (The removal truck passed yesterday taking all my goods and chattels west, toward the old country).
