Perpetual Man: I like how your story evoked in me memories of 'Ozymandias'.

Sleepydormouse: This is just a beautifully captured image. There's a wonderful whimsy here.

David Evil Overlord: What impressed me about your offering was how it made my mind jump to fill the world that you had created. Your story is larger than the 75 words.

More thoughts as I continue to read. (I hope this is okay)

Thanks for the kind words Mike. I had not thought of the Ozymandias connection when I wrote the story, but it is one of my favourite poems, so I would not be surprised to find it was an unconscious influence.

Making comments on the stories you like should not be a problem, a lot of us do it, just do not expect a full discussion based on the comments until after the challenge closes.

Thanks for the insightful comments, Victoria & Perp Man. Always great to read all of your comments (and the others that do this). I'd like to make the effort someday -- whenever I can find some free time.

Now I need to find some time to read the other entries! 24 hours just isn't enough in a day.

MPorter – For a first entry I found this to be absolutely magnificent. The first line was perfectly complimented by the second, creating a synergy that was just spot on perfect. It serves as an opening to a condemnation of a planet rendered useless by the inhabitants as they escape the destruction they have wrought. Almost ideally the end is neither hope nor despair, rather an ambiguity as escape to the unknown really is just that: unknown.

I do like it when there's a nice steady flow of 75 word entries, I always have something new to read when I log on.

Many thanks to Perp, Victoria, and Starbeast for the reviews. I really appreciate you guys taking the time every month to go through the stories and offer a few words. I'm always interested to see what you guys have to say.

You are immensely welcomed RoninJedi84.

As always many thanks for the words SB, very interesting take on the tale, and I'll reveal more after voting. It was dark wasn't it? I meant to try for something light and fluffy this month, and ended up going darker than ever. Pink bunnies it is next month then.

You're welcome Perpetual Man. I too try to go for something pleasent. BUT, if a dark and/or creepy idea blazes into my mind, I'll use it, provided I like it better than the "nice" story idea.

The Ends of the Earth
(part five)

Paranoid Marvin - Another grand poem from the mighty Marvin. This one is an excellent drama about a person who is completely alone traveling the world abroad, and now seeks his own end.

Johnnyjet - A stunning story about Earth's humans asked to choose it's end by a polite reptilian warmonger from beyond space. Quite a frightening thought, but it makes for a cool tale.

MPorter - Shocking science fiction story. Earth's inhabitants are forced to leave the planet because the world is dying, due to human greed and exploitation. Sad and nicely written entry. Nice to meet you MPorter.

Crystal Haven - Surprising fantasy tale about a jealous sister who craves the throne of her brother. Marvelous story with a great ending. Good stuff.

Gary Compton - Hundreds of years ago, traveling by ship across unknown waters can be a terrifing voyage for superstitious people. But not for a tough slave ship captain like Columbus. Interesting entry.

BetaWolf - What a great job, watching people coming and going on the edge of space above Earth. You can even relax and catch up on your reading. Wonderful and pleasent. I love it.

Parson - An unexpected tale that took me by surprise. A man recieves "the devine calling" to spread the word of God throughout the world to everyone, including trolls. Way to go Parson!

The Spurring Platty - Awesomely original fantasy story that entertained, as well as made me smile. Very cool idea for a very short story, which left me pleasently pleased.

Certainly no problem achieving the forty-two entries this month. Already passed past, and at least four regular last minuters we can have confidence in, plus considerably more probables – and eight total newcomers. There's always the potential for a record. And quite a bit of month to go.

Oh, and if anyone wants a copy of my charts, contact me. They've grown too big and unwieldy to post a .pdf, and the site can't accept anything I can upload them on.

What a nice offer, but I think I'll pass! ;) Even if I do like knowing when it's a busy month or not.

I too was hoping for a fourth page by now, but It's cool. I do know there are a few that normally hold out until the final days, and I look forward to reading their entries.

Also, I like your new avatar Chrispenycate.

Thank you, Starbeast, for your kind words about my little story. :)

Absolutely. You are very welcomed BetaWolf.

Yes - thank you, Starbeast. :)

I really enjoy reading all the reviews.

You're welcome Crystal Haven. I like reading the others reveiws too, because sometimes we see things differently.

The Ends of the Earth
(part six)

Mr Orange - A few humans have fled our dying Earth, and arrive on a harsh planet, hopefully, we will survive. Dark and intense science fiction drama. Nice to meet you Mr Orange.

On the road with sketchy internet connection for the past week and a half (and for the next 3 days) so I haven't been able to post on here.

Thanks for the reviews, and some really great stories!
