Discussion thread -- seventy-five word challenge September 2013

You can't scare us. We've written "Nourishment" in the style of Kipling. We can take anything you can throw at us. :D

rofl! Love it. This is war, Zebra! I'll begin with "A" and end with you and maybe I'll find the right theme and setting to stump this whole community. If not... The world!

Robots eating Tupperware sandwiches. Needs more plastic.

I think what you're telling me is we need a 10 word challenge ;)

Just thought of a much, much better title for my entry. :(

I know the title isn't part of the story and that lots of people ignore it when considering where their vote goes but I think a good title is quite satisfying.

I'll post it after the voting closes.

chrispenycate, what an incisive, well-written post that captures some of the half-hidden mystery that makes this monthly challenge so appealing.

Oh, I hate when that happens! I'm not sure which is worse, thinking of a change of phrase within the story, or a better title.

I've broken your comment into 3 to reply.

The title is for me. You get some free words, as I've not had my posts pulled I guess this must be allowed.
I hope not!
Agree fully.

Mith - I see that I'm not the only one who had the idea about selecting the incident at Waterloo. This is a unique version written far different than what I came up with. Well done sir.

Victoria Silverwolf - A William Shakespeare concert! That's outrageously cool. The most disturbing image for me is the fop mosh pit. You truely made my skin crawl. Excellent.

Springs - You certainly know how to weave the drama into a story with great intensity. Heavy, hard-hitting and heart-tugging. Plus you even tagged the finish with "The End". I've wanted to do that for quite a while. Wonderful.

Reiver33 - Ah! I had that feeling that someone who touch upon Richard the third (call it a hunch I suppose, no pun intended). Marvelously executed like a movie script. Thine effort doth please me.

Starbeast - I accessed my mental history files, which were mostly stored and locked away in the basement where water leaked on them, and mice were chewing up flie papers and making nests.

Stormcrow - Whoa! This is definately an unexpected tale, foretold in rhyme, which speaks of a alien who foils a monstrous plan of attack upon a school. Colossal story of thwarted campus carnage.

Karn Maeshalanadae - We were thinking alike, Karn. I too had a similar idea about the Cuban Missle Crisis, but yours has a different ending which I very much enjoyed. Cool take on history.

JordanSC5 - Another astounding moment in history is highlighted here in this tale. President Abraham Lincoln is the main focus, and the time of his death is altered deviously well by the writer.

Mosaix - You got me chuckling, and I feel weird about it. Because you took the most controversial assassination in American history and turned it into a pleasent outing. Awesome!

Yes, Thank You Starbeast - your "whoa!" tops-off my day!:D

Seeing your comments and reviews grouped together got me thinking. I like how if you consider the historical inspirations behind the entries collectively, it gives a strange compound-eye view of history; imagine what that view will be like by the time this challenge ends...!

Juliana - A poetic story, utilizing a literary passage from biblical history that is set in the far future. The presentation of this fine tale is displayed in an artistic flaring manner that flows like a silken river.

I Voyager - Exceedingly interesting entry that tunes us into the recieving end of aliens. A fantastic idea that has been in the back of my mind about ancient aliens monitoring humans through history. Outstanding. Nice to meet you.

Sound Barber - Firstly, nice to meet you. Your untitled story injects the reader with surreal and tremendous imagery that describes a powerful celestial being of galactic scale. I'm befuddled by it's intensity.

Chrispenycate - I had to resist doing a World War 2 story, because I knew someone would delve into it for a submission. And you treated the readers to a dazzling twist on a German forces attack. Very cool, and you left me wanting more.

Luiglin - Mu-ha ha ha ha. I really enjoyed this little tale that struck my funny bone. Delightful witty as well as wickedly diabolical. The last ride for Paul indeed. I can picture this as a Monty Python sketch. :D

Ratsy - Coincidently, your story isn't far off from what the Muslim faith believes. Judas is taken to be punished, and Jesus (peace be upon him) is taken up by God. Astonishingly brilliant.

Tywin - Wow! Another story that dares to stand up and be noticed by everyone who reads it. I also applaud this tale for being bold and generating thought into the whys and wherefores in human history. Stellar story!

Alchemist - A science fiction offering that tugs at the heart-strings with the a story about a mother and son. The mother tries desperatly to save her son with the help of a fantastic machine. Superbly written.

Glen - An excellent sci-fi adventure drama that deals with changing history for the better in order to save lives, however, there are drawbacks to the procedure. Marvelous and taunt action/drama.

I'm glad you liked my story, nice to meet you too.

I liked the WW2 story as well. There was a HUGE hole though. He ended with "We will resist", and should have instead ended with "We will kick their asses, eh!".

I could be biased... Being Canadian and all...
