Star Wars: Rebels

Right. All the animated clips I have been seeing is actually convincing me more that I will like it. By the way, love the new avatar. It looks like a Star Wars Steampunk B'ommar Monk.

Two episodes in (well, technically three), and I like the show very much. I just read a review on it at

and I have to say I agree with everything he said except I did not find Ezra annoying at all. I did like all the characters and found Kanan to be a bit dull too. The animation is almost distractingly different than what we were used to in The Clone Wars and the Stormtroopers are indeed laughable in their skills. I do hope that improves. The musical cues are wonderful, the designs are fantastic and the stories are quite good. I know I will enjoy this show immensely and look forward to how it will mature in story and quality. I still do not like Disney's seemingly heavy handed influence on this show, though, but I guess it should come as little surprise as it is on their children's TV station. I do hope the movies are void of this influence just as the Marvel movies seem to be.
 
Oh yeah, one more thing. The Clone Wars borrowed ideas from many different genres. Have you noticed the strong Firefly connection in rebels? Just look at the Rebels' ship, the Ghost. That is so modeled after Serenity.

I was seriously ill when I watched the pilot first time but yes, I noticed number of obvious clues point out to the pop-culture. But at the moment I cannot say if there are same number in the Rebels as I haven't seen so many episodes.

Me too. But I know how dreadful they are with their shooting skills in the movies, not talking about the clone war series, where the original clone warriors couldn't hit a thing. Then again this is now a Disney series and therefore there cannot be nothing serious and the clone wars has to provide comic relief as there are no battle-droids or General Grievous.

I so hope that they would continue following what they started at the last two season in the Clone Wars and give viewers a chance to see other players from the dark side.
 
Enjoyed the first episode, I didn't find it distractingly different to Clone Wars if I'm honest. Guess we have our Master and Apprentice Jedi's and a very hostile world to live in. But if these 2 can survive for any decent period of time then someone should have a word with Obi Wan (and Yoda) for so much hiding :)
 
I have to admit I love Rebels as much as I do love the Clone Wars. Sure it's very different in many, many ways of course and some thing's are undoubtedly very Disney, but fear not it's not overpowering. In fact, by the time you see the Inquisitor you can see that Lucas's hand isn't guiding all and there is a chance for all those things that were before. Including Vader's apprentice Starkiller. But you won't see them in the Rebels. Not yet, at least as they are things to come in the future.

PS. The humour is spot on.
 
Ctg, your report on Rebels is spot on, in my opinion. I have genuinely laughed out loud many times because of the shows clever humor points (hey, does yours do that?). Priceless. I do hope, though, that the Empire poses a little more of a threat than they already have . They have shown cleverness but utterly fail at every encounter (including EVERY stormtroopers shot. EVERY one.) I am loving the characters, the stories, the humor and the music so much that the animation issues are not issues for me.
I like Kanan more every episode. I like how he really is a hybrid gun slinger and Jedi. He has a serious side but yet is so undisciplined as a Jedi himself, his character is going to grow so much. Wonderful idea to put the Master and Apprentice as BOTH needing to learn. If they ever decide to kill a character, it would be good to kill him (few years down the line) as the teacher always goes in Star Wars so the pupil can grow on.
Well, I could go on and on, but I do love this show. I heard Dave Filoni say they could not use any of the animation templates they had for the Clone Wars show and had to start from scratch with much less time to get this show on air than the Clone Wars had. That might explain some complaints about the details and such, but I think this show will grow quite nicely.
 
It's holding my interest! Great to see the Inquisitor this week although his spinning light saber was pretty ridiculous - and pointless as he turned it off to jump through the doors and never turned it back on again!
 
I'm really enjoying it. I love the characters, especially Kanan (Huttman's remarks are spot on) and Zeb, who reminds me so much of a friend that he makes me smile whenever he appears.
 
I don't have satellite, so i'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD. That reminds me. I still need to get The Clone Wars.
 
Is anybody else thinking that Mandalore is going to rise as the Sith has one of the Clone Wars Mandalorians in high position and the crew has a female one playing a commando?
 
I picked up The Rebels DVD yesterday and will give it a watch in the next few days.
