Discussion thread -- seventy-five word challenge October 2013

".....they paved paradise, put up a parking lot...."

ummmm.... well, yeah.... paradise being like, this place and a parking lot being, like, the empty internet without this place.....

Phew! Glad to be back before my mind turned to mush!

Phew! Glad to see we are back and up and running. Sorely needed too, I had even started talking to some strange folks on Facebook.

Blue Five standing by...

That was a horrid experience. So sorry you had to go through all that stress Brian - I'm just glad to be back.

Thing is, I bet we all have to agree the absence of Chrons made us really focus on the writing, so at least we got stuff done. In the break, I got my 300 and 75 word entries done. Just polishing and will post :)

pH
(on the downside, the break made me set up a twitter account, so I will be procrastinating at 140 characters at a time now :D)

TDZ -- stop fantasising about DT, and get writing. (And something connected with the 300 worder image, not political stories with a plum part for a certain English actor... :p)

Is this a green tree I see before me? Hark, what light through yonder green leaves breaks? Tis the East Wing, and Tennant is the sun! To tree, or not to tree, that is the question....

Hmm. Needs work, you say?

That reeks of desperation. Hopefully you imagined the whole thing.

O Tennant! Was ever heard the like? This is the pit** and this the elder-tree.

** pointing at TDZ's mangling of three separate plays...

I thought a certain actor was Scottish (with some Northern Irish forebears).

The problem for me was that I'd not bothered to write down the subject and genre. (Why would I need to, given how often I'm logged in here?) But in case there wasn't an extension, I had to guess what they were and start from there. Which means I wrote my story this morning :)eek:), at least six hours before I would have done if the Chrons had been here all the time.

The only fear I get from posting my story is "are the six times I checked my word-count absolutely certain to be correct?" And then I count again, just in case. :) Hitting target criteria? Pah! That's something to wake you up in cold sweats three days later.

Yes, that. But, despite being nearly all UK-ancestry on both sides of my family, I'm way too American to judge things like that. Or to judge The Judge on things like that. :)

It has been decided that, because of the recent Chrons downtime, the October 2013 75-word Challenge is being extended for two days, i.e.
Contest now ends at 11:59 pm GMT, October 25 2013

I've no idea. I've never seen him in anything, never heard him speak, never read anything about him (save reviews when he's playing Shakespeare) and never Googled him, so you're lucky I guessed he was connected to the UK in any form whatsoever!! :p

And -- arriving at midnight last night, appropriately enough -- I have a story, and still over 36 hours to bash it into shape. Luxury!

Hehe. You know, now that I'm currently listening to The Parting Glass, I suddenly have a regret for not putting up a piece connecting to it...perhaps for the best I didn't, though...

Thanks, Karn. Now I have that and a whole raft full of similar songs going through my head as wasted opportunities.

Please excuse me, Victoria; I seem not to have acknowledged your review of my verse; please put it down to the downperiod.

Much appreciated, as always.

And now posted, a whole day in advance! (And still managed to make a flaming mistake despite having spent hours reading and re-reading it...)
