Discussion thread -- seventy-five word challenge October 2013

I quickly glanced at the the other submissions which I will review soon (hopefully Sunday). Then I entered my own tale of ghosts and pleasure.

My condolenses to you, Tisiphone. I just noticed your message. My heart, and prayers go out to you and your family.

Tisi - that's truly beautiful.

Yours is such very, very sad news; thoughts are with you and all the family. xx

Oh no, that's awful, Tisiphone! My daughter is seven, and I just can't even let myself begin to imagine it. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thank you everyone for your messages. Today has been a family day, setting off balloons with my poem attached and looking at photos and remembering. Funnily enough putting these words together has really helped today. I'm sure in the still of the night things will be different again but for a few hours I'll take the calm xx

that is a beautiful idea tisiphone. i am sure she would have loved the balloons.

when balloons go into the sky they travel up to where the air turns a midnight cerulean. they stay up there quite a while. sometimes months, until there is a vibrational frequency which causes them to quickly deteriorate. a sound wave. then they shake apart into fluffy dust spreading out over all the world in the upper atmosphere and slowly return to earth as snow.

i think your granddaughter would have really liked that tisiphone. to drift gently up through the clouds,up and up. then to dance around the indigo sky laced with stars peeking through. Until a song felt from the inside of one calls one back to earth... then to drift gently back in clouds of drifting lacey snowflakes twirling on the breeze.

what a lovely tribute you have made her.

Oh wow jastius what beautiful imagery .....

I read this out to my daughter and she was choked up with emotion but so so loved this thought. Iona-mays brother Henry (5) is now waiting for the snow to bring his sister back xxx

When we set the balloons loose, the sky was cloudy and the balloons soared. We stood and watched for ages as they rose higher and higher. The clouds parted to reveal a little blue and the balloons edged closer and we could see the sunlight and the shimmer and twinkling of the silver foil. As the balloons passed through the clouds covered over again and they were gone. Perfect moment xx

Jastius, I'm lost for words by your post, above... fabulous.

Victoria Silverwolf: a wonderfully gentle look at a bygone age, where the invisible wraith dances for pleasure with the living.

Starbeast: A wonderful tale of horror, demystified by Bela Lugosi becoming Dracula, able to haunt the castle, with an artful dig at Hollywood's working practices he'd undergone.

Tisiphone: So sorry to hear of the loss of one so young and so loved.

The idea of her brother waiting for snow to come has me tearing up. May comfort flow into your life from above.

Starbeast -- A very light, humorous touch is used in this tribute to a icon of the silver screen.

Thank you Victoria Silverwolf for the review. My formula: Celebrity + Ghost = Story. But, then I had to choose a celebrity (that was tough). However, I was about to watch the movie, "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein", then, it hit me, Bela Lugosi.

Starbeast: A wonderful tale of horror, demystified by Bela Lugosi becoming Dracula, able to haunt the castle, with an artful dig at Hollywood's working practices he'd undergone.

Since I knew Bela was buried in his Dracula outfit (his favorite role), I thought, "Hey, Mr Lugosi would be a happy ghost roaming a castle, with a caretaker enjoying his company."

It took me an hour to write and edit the story. I was happy. :)

Ghost Stories/Pleasure

Springs - Aww, ghosts can bring lovers together. This is a very sweet and spicey treat. Nice work. Is it getting hot in here, or is it just me?

Victoria Silverwolf - A beautiful story, ballroom dancing with spirits of the dead. I can imagine the wonderful classical music filling the hall. Cool.

Karn Maeshalanadae - Outstanding tale of a murderous ghost that stalks the night searching for potential victims. Yet, is touched by a peaceful offering that soothes his hellish soul.

BigJ - All right! Ghost Hunting. Veteren spook chasers know how to handle those haunters that go bump in the night. A fun tale that's movie-like.

Bowler1 - Heh heh heh. A pair of undead pranksters use their ghostly talents to frighten for laughs. Terror-ific and darkly delightful. Good stuff.

Remedy - A touching tale of a ghost who desperately tries to end his curse of being a restlees spirit through love for his living soul mate. Heart-warming.

Boneman - There is a right way and a wrong way to "ghosting", which makes this entry, blood chilling fun. Excellent idea about the art of spooking.

Hex - Wow! You conjured a well crafted story that illustrates great imagery. Nicely written with high spirited care that creeps into the mind.

Mith - Have a problem with spirits? Call a professional spector exterminator! Awesome tribute to the 1984 movie, Ghostbusters. And, the theme song creator, Ray Parker Jr.

Ratsy - Such a pleasent ghost story, filled with emotion like a creamy pastry, delicious and pleasurable to view. Good stuff to read, more than once.

Juliana - Spirits chat about fun times with humans, while Death is put off by those spooks. Charming and humorous in a very eerie way. Phantom fantastic.

Reiver33 - Astonishingly well written story that stuns your senses with dark desire, and grips you with icy hands. Mavelous entry of disturbing beauty.

Thanks for the review Starbeast. I'm pasting it to my first collection of feedback. much appreciated :)

Eh, technically not a ghost, Starbeast. A dullahan. The dullahan is a type of fairy, that which is donned in armor and holds its head under its arm. They have the ability to unlock and open any locks or gates that bar their way to the objective. Once they reach the mortal the intend, they will cover their victim in blood, signifying that they are soon to die. They also do not like to be watched, and if any mortals are caught watching their acts, they too will be splashed with blood.

Thanks for the comment, man. :)

Ghost Stories/Pleasure
(part two)

Mirannan - Here's a story I didn't expect. Ghostly fighter pilots are the main focus in this facinating tale of flying phantoms. Far out and fantastic.

TheDustyZebra - Ah-haaaa. I knew I'd come across a ghost lover story. This one is high spirited, and goes all the way for passionate pleasure. Hot stuff.

Mosaix - A young ghost's first date. Such a sweet tale of delightful creepiness. Shows you that the dead, aren't much different then the lliving. Very cute.

MattC - Firstly, nice to meet you. I really enjoyed your opening line, nice touch. You wrote a very smooth entry that defines the lines of existence. Excellent.

Tywin - Oh my. Talk about Tails of the Unexpected. Wow-zer! You caught me off guard, with your stimulating yarn without pulling punches. Bravo.

Mr Orange - Whoa! A classic story which reminds me of those old horror comic books of the 1950's. Shocking, freaky and hard-hitting. Ghoulishly good.

Paranoid Marvin - Once again, I'm dazzled by a well executed poem which flows freely like ectoplasam, and hynotizes you with haunting entertainment. Very cool.

Tisiphone - Beware the sultry enticements of the ghostly mermaids that lure lonely men to their salty doom. I just love a good sea tale. This one's spicy hot!

Devaed - Firstly, nice to meet you. You give us a story that is a sad, yet a rewarding ghostly offering which showcases powerful feelings of love in the afterlife. Well done.

Jastius - Casper, the friendly ghost lives on in this fun tale. This would make for a good cartoon on Halloween night. I enjoyed Casper as a kid, in comics and in cartoons.

Starbeast - Climb into an open grave and read my tale, then, if you dare, tell me what you think. Be sure to bring a torch with you, it's a dark night.

I Voyager - Heh heh heh. What a tremendous idea, by making a buck off of the living dead. Why not, people pay to get scared at amusement parks. Deviously cool.
