jastius' Mermaid (I don't see how that grew from the picture, but inspiration, not slavish attachment has always been the three hundred word indication)

I enlarged the picture upon my monitor. If you enlarge the picture you will see that beyond the small cradle of green, the hills were covered with scrub brush that dwindled past the hills until there was an arid area of sparse growth ebbing into a cratered surface surrounding a small body of water.
