Sorry I haven't made comments on my shortlist, but I'm excited and getting ready for tomorrow! :D

Have a good one folks!

Posting on my phone in between Christmas meals in Spain so no shortlist from me. Martin 321 gets my vote for his reinvention of the faith healer.

Merry Christmas all
Mr O

Thanks for the mentions/listings, Glen and springs. :)

Have to go and read them all again. Good job there's nothing to do the next couple of days, eh?
Oh, there is... ;)

I had to read all the stories twice again to make any kind of selection. Anyway, here goes.

SHORT LIST

Boneman -- For its ruthless, unrelentingly logical conclusion.

johnnyjet -- For its realistic and thoughtful depiction of plausible technology.

Mirannan -- For its daring and important theme.

alchemist -- For its careful balance between cynicism and romanticism.

The Judge -- For its powerful extrapolation of extraordinary technology.

VOTE

"The Mail" by Tywin

For its profound and touching depiction of human emotions.

Thanks for the review, Victoria, and the mention, Remedy! I probably won't have time to vote over the next couple of days, as there are a few things I need to do. :D

Thanks for the shortlisting, Victoria and Remedy. It warms the cockles on this windy night.

Victoria and Starbeast - Thanks. Much appreciated - I was worried that the concentration of vitriol might be a bit too high.

You are very welcome Mirannan.

Thanks to SB too. Good to have you back doing your thang!

It is fun to personalize my comments toward all of the good people here. I'm very happy to see many of the regulars here as well, and a treat to have new arrivals post their stories.

Thanks, Victoria and Starbeast. I came close to not entering this month as I had a very hard time getting faith and si-fi to mix. It's going to be REAL hard to get H.A.R.I. and Paw together.
Bob

I was very stumped as well, but I searched for inspiration this time, rather than wait. And you Bob, gave us an original tale that shined brightly.

Starbeast - I don’t know what an Australian cricketer is doing in Commander Koenig’s territory!? Anyway, cracking story that perhaps makes reference to that other George Bailey.

I've enjoyed reading all the stories this year, both 75 & 300 word, thanks to all for the fun. A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

Thanks for the cheerful listing. Merry X-Mas & Happy New Year Glen!

A VERY Merry Christmas to one and ALL

Bob

Happy New Year to you Bob. God bless us, every one!

Faith/Sci-Fi

(part nine)

Mosaix - Mu-ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Nice execution, I mean, nicely executed sci-fi fry. I believe you have solved the problem of crime, just get rid of the criminal, immediately. BZZT! Heh heh heh.

HareBrain - Whoa-ho! You stunned the stem of my brain, with a unique and far-out weird science fantasy. This would make a great episode of Outer Limits. Marvelous.

The Judge - IT's a madhouse! A madhouse of savings! Dazzling title that says it all, you dream it up, and for a small fee, you'll stuff it into our minds, just the way we like it. Good stuff.

Ursa Major - Zoiks! You really go one step beyond the beyond to where no one has gone before. I found this tale very thought provoking. Just the idea of sending yourself any where in this universe, in an instant. Scary, but cool.

Reiver33 - Slighty similar to the above tale, but you do fold space for a different reason, with the occupants having faith in their religious leaders. And that my friend, makes your tale out-standing. Well done sir.

TheDustyZebra - Aww. A pleasent and wonderful family story that would make a grand sci-fi movie of the week. A very sweet and loving offering you have given us for the holidays. You made me smile.

Paranoid Marvin - Wow. You have stoked the fires, dished out egg nog and hot chestnuts to all with your multicolored tale times three. This really surprised me, and is completely an unexpected treat. Mighty fine sir.

A lot of fun entries this month:

My shortlist:
Springs – The Time Travel Conundrum
Martin321 – One Beamed Every Minute
Ratsy – Never Lose Faith
Roninjedi – Ye of Little Faith
Remedy – Like Father, Like Son
BigJ – The third interstellar crusade
Bedlamite – In the face of adversity
The Judge – We Can Believe it for you Wholesale

And my vote goes to Springs. The story hit pretty close to home with me.

Thanks bunches to Boneman, Springs, and [FONT=&quot]Remedy!

And muchos gracias to Victoria for the vote!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Back to the kids, family, and snow for me!

Mentions.
One for the bear, Ursa Major. Alchemist and vote, Victoria Silverwolf and lastly DOE.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Abraves247, you are a person of incredibly discerning taste... or you've had too much mulled wine! Whatever, thank you so much for the vote, which I found in my stocking. Excellent

Thanks Victoria, for the Christmas Shortlist!! Went so well with a mince pie...:D

Some fine stories, yet again, and voting was difficult. It always is.

Mentions to:
springs- a beautiful tale, that warmed my heart on a cold winter's day
RoninJedi84- I'm not normally a Christian sf fan, but this well-written piece allowed differing interpretations
DEO- I think Isaac Asimov would have despaired if he thought he might one day be worshipped thus - brilliant
The Judge- multi-layered and Dickian, perhaps asking what the meaning of faith was - deep

But my vote went to Juliana, with her wonderful story of enemies becoming friends, perhaps more. I loved the romantic feel.
