What are you working on right now?

Just sent a short story to my writing circle. I'm not all that happy with it, but right now it's the best I can do.

So I've returned to my novel. Just starting to read and outline, to get back into the setting and characters.

I really want to finish working on my Dorian Gray story but I keep getting sidelined with other projects. This week I finished a 3800 word short story. The good news is, I've been writing a lot. :)

Writing a couple short "setting fluff" kind of things. Fake in-universe documents, which I'll post once my post count gets to 30. Not sure how many, I'm just starting on one right now, but I should have 3+ by then and try to make them as different as possible.

Sent off a short short for publisher consideration a week or so ago. My WIP is progressing slowly and painfully; I'm finding out once again that putting my ideas on paper (so to speak!) is a lot harder than dreaming them up.

Hi,

The Godlost Land now sits at 188k and has a cover as well. (46k in 11 days - I really should enter nanowrimo one year!) Another half dozen or so chapters to go until the first draft is done.

Cheers, Greg.

Finished a short this week and am editing that..also I did a short a week or two ago and liked the idea so I have turned it into a Chapter one and I just wrote about 1100 words at my local coffee shop. It seems like its going well but I always write shorts so it will be interesting to see of I can do something longer. I just hope i stick with it.

Editing the short story for Black Library and plotting a four-handed fantasy novel that may one day get written.

I've just received my big scary 'editorial production' email from Dreamspinner and my brain can't read it properly. Soooo much to do! I've got all my dates and deadlines and things. Eek!

Hi,

Yes! The Godlost Land is now done it's first draft - 221K. I'm just going to tidy and look at things until the weekend when it goes to its beta reading.

Cheers, Greg.

Giving the second Saxon & Khan story (first is in Malevolence) a once over. I think the basics are sound, but it needs some general sharpening up and maybe a bit of redrafting/editing.

Editing chapter twenty-two of Oracle (Five more to go) Had a major panic as I wanted to look at my old folder full of research notes and my other half had moved them from off the floor by the computer desk. They were safe there. I knew where they were.

Anyway found notes and damn, the bit I was looking for isn't in them. It must be in my notes in a folder on the computer. The search begins.

I've finally, after a good month or more of dallying, finishing re-editing back through my entire story, fixing and aligning bits here and there, and wrote the first genuinely NEW part in many many weeks last night.
Just got the last chapter (and a bit) of wrap-up, and then it's done.

... as a first full draft at least.

Then the fun begins ;P

33,000 words. Need 7,000 more to qualify as a novel. That is not a problem but I haven't figured out the ending. Don't want to go much passed 60,000.

Just finished the 5th rewrite of my first novel (90k words) ... and I am hawking round Agents ... nothing yet ... boo!

In tandem, too dull the pain of rejection, I am sketching out the background of my 2nd novel ... lots of walking around London and visiting free museums for inspiration ... hurrah!
