What are you working on right now?

I have to phone the grandaughter of someone I want to appear in my script and get her permission and help. After that the last scene or two is done.

Once again I've managed to bring all my works to a screeching halt because I'm not smart enough to figure out my own mysteries. Writing backwards is impossible, who ever had that idea.

OTOH my reading of Idoru by Gibson and The City The City by China Mieville goes well. I'd forgotten how good Gibson really is, his language gets into your head like a piece of music you can't forget.

Finished my horror story short and am now spending some time working on Chapter 3 of Sleepy Grove, my current WIP.

76k. struggling with my female pov as usual but getting there. ACTIVE POV! ACTIVE ACTIVE ACTIVE!

78.5k Working on a Dinner scene involving that pesky female pov. The scene lacks conflict and is very weak but essential. So much work to be done. If it ends up as a small 1500 word scene that'll be ok as long as its dripping with conflict and tension. Atm its too much like she's watching it play out. I need to get her more active.

80k, dinner scene is done for now, though its extremely weak. I'll come back to it in the second draft.

Time to for a General scene!

Good man.

I'm working on the long, slow edit of book 3 of my trilogy that should complete its transformation from draft into a good working basis before editing. I'm enjoying it a lot and averaging two chapters-30 pages a day between being with the kids and what not. After, I plan to go back to my new one with the second day's action planned out. :)

Go springs!

I finished Chapter 3 of Sleepy Grove last night and came up with some good plot points for the next few chapters.

Also came up with a cool Space/horror short story idea so I may flesh that one out

Well three weeks ago everything fell apart in terms of my writing: A beta read for a friend, my WIP, and my SS4.

I think I will be GO! for my SS4 (it's all loosely mapped but I stopped after 2 scenes because of work) now until the close date.

Unlikely I'll get anything together for the 75 worder for the third month. If musement strikes, I'll throw something up there. ;)

Main WiP is still sitting at around 80k, having a bit of a pause on that due to co-writer having some issues so have begun a side project - a stand alone novel in an alternate history. Something that has rattled around in my head for a few months now. Gives me something to be doing when my main work seems insurmountable. Its a new baby at just 800 words as of tonight.

More than half-way through this round of editing (15 chapters to go) and then I need to do another round of nit-picking as finding lots of bits which are too passive.

Hoping to get the editing done by mid-September, as I'd like to start querying before October!

At the same time, working on query ideas. And on updating my agent list, as last thing I (unsuccessfully) queried was a MG and this one's YA, borderline adult (I think!).

I edited a very long, tricky chapter today and started on the next but stopped. I need to think. This, the third book, has so many threads to be tied up it's harder than anything I've written, and the most rewarding. And the mc is exactly what I'd hoped he would be (Kerry in crits yesterday said he moved through the world with confidence) and I'm having a bittersweet love of it and a goodbye moment. :( send tissues. :D

Yeah, multiple plots need to be tied together to 'complete' the books. I hate when an author forgets about subplots. A pet peeve of mine. So goodluck Springs. It'll be worth it in the end.

Oooh, I did a first like. Get me, so rad! (I think J-sun had a point earlier and am going to see how they go with me.)

Thanks, Barrett. Because it's a trilogy there are so many things to wrap up but each chapter I write threatens to throw up more. On the downside, it's murder to hold together. On the up, I have enough conflict to sink a ship. :)

This will mean nothing to almost anyone but ... after 70,000 words and what feels like two years in Bismark I've finally got them out!! And everyone's levelled up!

I'm currently working on an entire Science Fiction realm.

I'm working on the opening to a multi book saga I want to work on that takes place in the future about 800 years. I am working on the military side of the stories world and I have another author that is going to write from the perspective on 'regular people.'
