What are you working on right now?

Still revising the book. On draft 3 and it's getting closer. Being in school doesn't give me much time.

I just finished a short story that I'm hoping to submit to the WotF contest. Letting it sit for another month before I go back to revise.

Toying around with a fantasy romance that I might self-publish in small volumes. Pure fluff, but it's fun to write.

29 pages of edit/rewrite done and a good start made in the opening sequence of the sequel done.

Spelunking Cheques of The Master's Talent with some fix up of mistakes / skipped bits. Then in a few days assemble as one text, full proof read on kindle, quick fix-up and give then 1st draft to some readers.

I've this week started the second novel in my epic fantasy series. Only 2 chapters and 4000 words in the first draft, but happy so far. Have already settled on a title, The Woman With Fingers Of Gold.

Specifically, I'm drawing up a seven-sibling family who are at the heart of a murder mystery, as well as fleshing out continuing storylines from book 1. Am enjoying myself :)

Goddess, thank you. ;) they have more fun.
For some reason I can hear "Ride of the Valkyries" just right now. I can just see you in the distance with setting sun glinting off your "push up" brass bustier as you wave your Goddess Sword. With the way the horse is jogging, I hope the brass outfit has internal padding.

It's like Mankind, godhood includes goddesses. Probably they can be either, depending, Or a Bull, or whatever takes their fancy. I never understood the whole bull thing. Owls made some sense.

About 3/4 through rewrite and trying to work out some timing issues between my various POV characters. Maybe next time I should write something that spans months or years rather than a week...

As I progress through The Master's Talent chapter by chapter doing the simplest fix up of spelling and missing bits I'm getting depressed. My characters seem little better than generic shape paper dolls with different names written on them. :(

At ch 13 of 24

The story has to cover about 3 years. About 14 months of space flight time though. (Flight to jump, jump x 2, flight from jump, visit planet, flight to jump, jump x2, flight from jump).

Hugs. It takes time to flesh out, I find, especially characters.

working on a nice simple (sub)urban fantasy featuring a 60' narrowboat and decades of child abduction. what could go wrong? :/

Don't know what narrowboating experience you have so thus might be redundant but I've narrowboated in a 58 footer a couple of times and am happy to help with research if needed. (Though i'm far from a pro)

thanks, Jo, but I've been a 'boater since the 80s and that part isn't going to be a problem. plenty of research walks coming up along the Shroppie :)
faerie lore, on the other hand...

Oh, so jealous. If there is one thing that would tempt me to move across the water, it's the canals, and the Shroppie's right up there!
I'm also researching fairies as it happens, but it's of the Oirish variety...

I've been reading Elizabeth Bear's Blood and Iron which is (so far) a really cool fairy story... So last night I dreamt I had forgotten to add some very important details of fairy lore to my UF WIP and woke up this morning in a panic. Imagine my relief when I remembered: there are no fairies in my WIP. :D
