What are you working on right now?

Working through another formatting exercise to do the fourth text-to-speech run through ....

I'm face deep in edits at the moment. And it's not my favourite part, so i definately didnt dive in head first:confused:

Spent the last two weeks running through and tidying up with notes from my first second-pair-of-eyes read through, developmental stuff... And you know, I'm actually quite enjoying it(n) With continued back and forth with 'the eyes' to iron out the major kinks, the story is getting stronger, the characters are getting deeper, and I'm slightly-past-almost having fun doing it:p

To all those who enjoy the tidying instead of the mess-making, I'm starting to see there's a chance you might not be crazy;)

I do enjoy a good wip sweep (y)

Anyway my novella is growing and growing (ruh-roh!) Quiet Scoob! And er, I've added another POV which I'm unsure on. How many POVs are acceptable or normal in Novella's? :p

Formatting done, so have been doing the read-through the past two days and have edited six chapters so far.

I've just re-read three hundred words and decided that they don't work. Neither of the characters would have taken the risks involved. So that will need re-writing.

Oh well. Sometimes you've just got to be honest about these things.

I'm writing the first draft of my first novel - A Day in the Lies of Inari Meiwaku.

I'm closing on the midpoint, just trying to lay out the bones of the story and get the wordcount up really.

Also just started writing a blog.

I'm about 3k into a short story about musicologists conjuring the supernatural. Also going to spend some time rereadig and readying a short story submission about a guy who cures his pica with robots in his bloodstream. Wish me luck!

I like the title. Sounds interesting :)

Thanks! That's always nice to hear.

The book is an urban fantasy about, (and narrated by), a Kitsune who is a pathalogical liar, perhaps even to herself. If you're still interested after that description then you can find links to the first couple of chapters on my profile page.

Up to 94,227 words in the re-write of THE CURSED MAN. I'll be finishing off the man body this week, and then I'll be starting on incorporating the notes and tweaks that I've got listed down. After that, I'll begin the read-through to look out for contradictions, etc., and so ensure my grammar and spelling. Almost there! :D

Just read a post by the man in charge of approving stories for the Submissions Call I'm writing a story for. He clarifies what he's looking for.

So now I gotta delete the last 250 to 300 hundred words, and take the story in another direction. No big deal, really; I think the new direction will be better than the one I was off on! I'd only be upset if I didn't have until May to finish the story. :)

I would not say I am working on anything at the moment, and have not been for a long time.

I have done a very small piece (it's up in the crits section) - so very now and then I might do something. It is a loose idea that I had for a SF story, something that felt a little different to anything I had read before. It seems to be sitting around in my skull, working itself out so I may actually do a little bit more.

Maybe.

In the future

:D

Phew! Typed THE END at the end of the the first edit of THE CURSED MAN. I've now got to edit in some of the notes I made, and make a few tweaks and that, but that will probably only take a week or two.

Right now, the word count is a bit over 103,000. It might end up being 105,000 by the end of the edits, but I think that's a good length for a fantasy novel..?

Another Shadow Than My Own (Psychological thriller set in 70s Los Angeles)

I started this some time ago then set it aside as a 'hard sell'; the main character is borderline psychotic (objectification, lack of empathy, etc.) with a history of violence and makes his living as the neighbourhood thug-for-hire. The female lead is a multiple personality (I studied psychology back in the 70s so my terminology is dated) with the latent persona being the key to a small fortune in 'misplaced' mob money. However, given the critical acceptance of unsympathetic characters in 'John Wick' and 'Split' I've decided to take another look at this narrative and she how it develops.
