What are you working on right now?

Intriguing... ^

I'm working on nothing. Absolutely nothing. And after being absolutely chocka with writing stuff for the past god knows how long, it now feels a bit weird.

I know I've got six shorts to do for XeiBooks, but I don't start those until I'm sent details (what happens is I get sent character art and a character sheet, then I write a thousand word story - previous ones here)

I've finished my short story edit for Torquere and I know the novel edit won't come in until August. I'm awaiting to be assigned an editor for Dreamspinner.

Waiting for beta feedback for TBM.

Will have edits come back from Kraxon at some point.

And... that's it! The Allery novel (Locke & Co) got stared at today but I added no words. I also opened a new file to start something new, but my brain's not working properly, so I did nothing.

Also have some beta reading to do myself.

Does the problematic love interest have anything to do with the bodies? ;)

Yes and no. My main character Cece has the hots for the Inspector. The trouble is she is seventeen and he has to be in his 30s at least. :) They are not happy at me keeping them apart, but it is controversial for a YA although it wouldn't have raised an eyebrow in 1912 when it was set. The difference in their social status would have though.

I've ended up making him newly widowed and giving her a wimpy love interest for this story.

Hi,

Six days ago after sending The Nephilim off to the editor (and already suffering a series of phone calls telling me that I couldn't really mean that he did that!) I started a new epic fantasy. This time my MC is an arcane smith - a wizard with no fireballs etc who enchants weapons and swings a sword instead.

I'm already 26k in so at this rate should be finished in two or three weeks!!! (Always assuming I don't shoot myself when the next phone call comes!)

Cheers, Greg.

About three chapters of Sir Edric (corrections, improvements and axing bits so terrible readers would claw their eyes out if they ever suffered the misfortune to glance at them), and a short story.

Book 3. It is coming along slowly though. Possibly because I'm not quite as certain about what the details of this part of the story are as I was with the first two.

Also I still feel I should do another editing run on book 2. And of course then theres the blurb....

I am working on a novel called "The ******* Sons and the Canibinoid Conspiracy" about a group of socially unacceptable misfits who go up against the New World Order. It is a dark, yet playful, near future Sci-fi Romp that assumes that sciences that are currently in development have come to fruition. Fun Fun Fun.

Researching the best place for my MC to kick her fallen assailant in the head in order to knock him unconscious... Scary how many internet discussions I found on the subject!

I think I'm opting for the jaw, near his ear, which is apparently a good pressure point. And should leave a nice mark. The guy is a back-stabbing traitor and deserves it. :D

I'm working on book two of my trilogy. Everything is deepening now I lnow where I'm going. It was 70k at one point, now it's a healthy 93. Tomorrow - a complete scene rewite. Info dump gone - angst, emotional scene here it comes. ;)

Hi,

Just to update, currently my book about the arcane smith is 77k (not bad for two weeks writing), and I've got a tentative title for it - The Godlost Land. I'm sort of wondering how that'll go down with readers though. Any thoughts?

Cheers, Greg.

Finally worked out my love problem. Cece has picked up a temporary lover in the form of a young constable called George Lyon. The advantage of writing in 1912 is I have a very easy way to bump him off in a few years time.

She can take up with much older Freddie Fierce when she herself is a bit older ;) and at a time when there is a lack of men her own age. Considered getting her pregnant by George and Freddie doing the gallant thing.

Having gone through my MS several times and determined there's not much more I can do, I've added a mock-up of a 'Trans-Ether Radio Times' TV listings page, throwing in as many parody show titles as I could think of to serve as an Appendix B. The first appendix is the instruction manual for the Lazer Webley Mark IV.

Nothing! I'm beta-reading for two Chronners but writing absolutely nothing. :(

I quite like it.

With all the horror/supernatural/alien/space stuff I have been writing, I think I've decided to give a try on a classic fantasy short for an anthology submission I stumbled across. Working on the ideas in my head before I transport them to 'paper' but hope to start writing it tonight or very soon at least. Should be interesting since I love to read fantasy but have really not written much of it.

Googling "can you drink your own sweat". Yes, ew, I know. And trying to think of cool MacGyverish things my characters can do with one short piece of rope and a dead flashlight.

YARP (Yet Another Revision Pass) through A Hierarchy of Gods. I wanted to have it out by the end of June, but it's iffy at this point.

Just sent End of Empires, the next Smith novel, to the publisher. And now I'm writing a short story for Black Library. Expect explosions.

I'm knee deep into the fantasy short. It's anadventure romp that reminds me of the fun classic fantasy I loved when I was younger. It's actually a lot of fun to write. Just wrote some and now its up to over 1700 words

I've just started writing again - as you may have guessed from my serial questioning over the last week.

Two of my schools have had their performances and of the others, only three have performances, so now I can get back to writing and beta-ing the two beta requests I have had.

By the end of May I should be back to churning out my usual dreck :D (I think April was the first 75 word challenge I have missed).

Anyway, I'm working on my 4 monsters story, which has evolved away from the portmanteau-y thing I expected it to be, into one story thanks to the advice I got here.

Struggling with the emotional content today as I realised that one of the MCs suffers physical abuse at the hands of her mother, so have been writing that. I'm not enjoying it today.
