Thanks for the lovely comment, jastius.
And the review, Victoria. Appreciated.

Also, thanks for the listings, martin321 and Mr Orange.
:):):)

Right, somehow I will make the time to read all the entries and vote today! Bribes in the form of extra minutes in the day* will be accepted! :p

*Magic or quantum mechanics solutions both fine – I'm not fussed.

And now there's a little less than a day left for those who haven't voted to vote. And what? About twenty people who haven't voted?

According to my list, twenty one (ignoring Ethered, who is unready)
That would be:-Abernovo, AJB, Azzagorn, Bedlamite, BigJ, Catullus, Culhwch, HareBrain, Hopewrites, jastius, Juliana, Khayos, Kiffinyjean, lonewolfwanderer, Phyrebrat, telford, The Judge, The Spurring Platty, Tisiphone, Ursa major and Wazcal.

That's with – not unsolicited, 'coz I solicit shamelessly among newcomers, but unsubmitted – help from A. Fare Wells and SevenStars,

I do sympathise; it took a long time weeding out entries for stupid details, that don't really natter at all, to get down to a manageable list.

But Don't Forget folks. Next month is an anniversary edition! We're expecting even more of you than this time:D.

Though how I'm going to vote I don't know.

Thanks Perp for the mention; I was beginning to think I'd missed my aim entirely this month. But I'm still likely to post two or three alternatives, when the voting's done.

Okay, on with the impossible task.
Honorable mentions.
Alchemist
Mr Orange
Boneman
Tactical Loco
Starbeast
Glen
Chrispenycake
Crystal Haven
Mosaix

And the gold goes to Hex.

Thanks for the short listing, Starbeast & stormcrow!

I see you're in the lead right now, Starbeast. I just had a frightening thought that you might be the one picking the topic next month! Of course, I mean "frightening" in a good way.:D

Thanks for finalisting me Starbeast :)

Thank you for the shortlisting, Boneman. :)

Coming up with a reasonable shortlist was, as usual, excruciatingly painful. My original list had about 25 names on it. :roll eyes:

Voting, on the other hand, was comparatively easy, as I fell in love with one entry from the moment I read it. Vote to Parson, for his lovely and rather Kipling-esque tale.

Shortlist:
Hex
Springs
Alchemist
Teresa Edgerton
Mr Orange
The Spurring Platty
Karn Maeshalanadae
Big J
Bob Senior
Abernovo

Martin 321 gets a mention for best title... :D

Thank you Ratsy, for the very high praise.
Thank you Perp, for the vote.
Thank you Juliana, for the mention.

My not-so-short list:
Hex - To Dance With Death
Khayos - Wishful Thinking
Quellist - The Hardest Part
alchemist - Death Rides A Black Cab
Bowler1 - Death and (Back) Taxes
stormcrow - The Female of the Species
Starbeast - Talking Creatures Trilogy of Death
Boneman - Dead Unlucky
SirSamuelVimes - A Weapon's Bane
Brev - Reap what you Reap
Abernovo - Even Valkyries Get the Blues

My top tres:
SleepyDormouse - Summers End
jastius - Death’s Maiden
mosaix - It Comes To Us All…

In the end ... I went with SleepyDormouse's lovely tale.

Thank you TSP and Starbeast for the mentions. Its been a busy Friday morning so these have perked my day up.

This is my hit list - now, which RAY GUN shall I use. I know... I'll use my sonic RAY GUN. It can do terrible things to bowels. Oh yeah, this is the gun for the job. ;)

Starbeast, I shall not smite thee as you have been more than kind to all my stories.
(but I've got my eye on you1)
Thank you very much.

Thanks also to Juliana for the listing.

Bob

Thanks so much Crystal haven and Perp for the shortlist, and Starbeast for the finalist. I'm going to be away for the close of the voting, so could we please have a tie-breaker, to extend the excitement?;) Good luck to the front-runners, and with so many votes to come it's anyone's to take.

You're welcome Boneman. I too have to be away in the final hours of the voting. It could still go in any direction.

I enjoy you're style of writng, and I look foward to your alternate tales.

IF I win Chrispenycate, I've got an idea that would be interesting for the Anniversary Edition.

Okay, on with the impossible task. Honorable mentions.
Alchemist Mr Orange Boneman Tactical Loco Starbeast Glen Chrispenycake Crystal Haven Mosaix

And the gold goes to Hex.

Thank you for placing me in excellent company Telford. Marvelous list sir.

Thanks for the short listing, Starbeast & stormcrow!

I see you're in the lead right now, Starbeast. I just had a frightening thought that you might be the one picking the topic next month! Of course, I mean "frightening" in a good way.:D

You're very welcome Johnnyjet.

Last night, just before I entered dreamland, an idea came to me. IF I win, I shall bring, it, forth.

However, I'm still in shock at being in the lead.

But what if the genre were to be "Fantasy Trilogy".

We know Starbeast can write three stories within the word limit, but I'm not sure I could.

I'm sure you'd come up with something, you (like many others here) always think up something outstanding.

But, IF I win, I wouldn't do that. I've got another idea, which came into my mind just before I fell asleep. I smiled went I drifted into slumber, and had surreal dreams (but, don't we all).

Thanks for finalisting me Starbeast :)

Absolutely Quellist. For your first entry in a challange, you did great.

Thank you Ratsy, for the very high praise. Thank you Perp, for the vote. Thank you Juliana, for the mention.

My not-so-short list:

In the end ... I went with SleepyDormouse's lovely tale.

Thank you The Spurring Platty for adding me to your wonderful list.

Thank you very much.

Thanks also to Juliana for the listing.

Bob

I just noticed your post after I did. It takes me a little time to reply to multiple posts.

Glad to hear you're cool with me. I'm a "night owl", and sometimes things get hazy before I turn in. But no worries, I'm getting better at making fewer typos.

Keep those stories of yours flying.

Beast from the Stars

Well, I don't need to worry about double-posting, as my promise to put up shortlists was two pages back! You guys are busy. :D

Thanks first to johnnyjet, hope and Teresa, for the shortlistings of my own story.
